Remember how I said I'm cool, calm and collected Remi Baker? Well, I'm definitely sporting the cool side right now. The calm and collected part? Let's just say that I'm anything but as I march my way up to Jimmy, whose lips are currently attached to Kelsey's.
I haven't even been gone 5 minutes and he already found another girl. But he didn't just find her, no. He's making out with her like he doesn't need air to exist.
I don't care how I look right now to everyone else; I tap Jimmy on his shoulder.
That doesn't do anything, so I tap harder, which finally gets him to turn his head and look at me.
"Remi! Shit!" he jumps.
Yeah, 'shit' is right. As in, you're in big shit, you asshole.
I squint my eyes at him then glance at Kelsey. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't know me considering we ran in different social circles back in high school, but I know her.
"Hey, Kels," I mockingly greet her, and she immediately wipes her lips, clearly embarrassed.
"Remi, it's not what it looks like," Jimmy lies.
I grab ahold of my hips. "Bullshit. You were just making out with someone else after we kissed not even 10 minutes ago. Not to mention the fact that you took me out to dinner tonight, too, you scumbag."
"What?!" Kelsey shrieks, looking at Jimmy.
"Yeah, hate to break it to you, Kelsey, but you're macking on someone else's leftovers. It's all good, though. He wasn't that tasty. By all means, enjoy the rest!"
"Fuck you, Remi," Jimmy spits, and his words startle me.
"Yeah, you'd like that wouldn't you, Jimmy?" I reach for his face and sarcastically pat him on the cheek. "Sorry, though. You'll never have me."
He clicks his jaw, holding it with his hand and then scoffs. "What? You think that because I wined and dined you tonight, you have this newfound sense of confidence?"
"No, not at all, actually. My confidence has always been here. Yours on the other hand...it's lacking."
"Biggest mistake was taking a bitch like you out," he fires back, and before I can slap him across the face, someone from behind me speaks up.
"No, biggest mistake was calling her a bitch."
Brooks is standing behind me, fuming. I know the look on his face. I've seen it before.
Let's just say that Brooks has had his fair share of fights in the past. And right now, he's mad. He's more than mad. That's why I walk up to him and settle my palms on his chest.
"Brooks, he's not worth it. Let's just...leave."
Brooks looks from Jimmy to me, and I'm relieved that his blue eyes find mine. "Nah, Rem, he's definitely worth my fist hitting his face."
"Brooks, no. No, fighting tonight."
"Should've seen this one coming," Jimmy pipes up with a chuckle.
Brooks shifts his body to the side to see Jimmy better – my palms still placed on his chest. "You say something, you little piece of shit?" he asks.
"Yeah, I did." Jimmy buffs his chest up like he's some sort of hot shot. Little does he know, he's the biggest loser in this place.
"You're such a scared piece of shit, why don't you say it to my face?" Brooks says, riling him up.
It's no surprise that Brooks' getting worked up, so I try to calm him down with my words. "Brooks, please, let's just go."
"Yeah, Caldwell, Go," Jimmy shoos him with his hand in the air. "Got her warmed up for you, anyways. You can thank me later."
And that's all it takes for Brooks to move past me and towards Jimmy.
Before anyone can stop him, Brooks throws a mean right punch to Jimmy's face, which causes his nose to immediately start bleeding.
"If I so much as see you look her way even once, you'll fucking wish you never did," he says.
