Chapter 2

I run into the classroom letting go of Hunter's wrist and finding my assigned seat in the front of the class next to Hunter. The bell screamed causing everyone to run to their seats and the teacher to come in and close the door behind her. she had long brown hair in a messy braid and bright pink eyes that stared directly into your soul

"Alright class" she said with a happy and excited voice "I'm your new teacher Ms. Hardly, now today we will be in homeroom all day doing ice breakers and making friends" she exclaimed making me excited for this class.

"Let's start with introducing ourself with these things" she said writing "name, age, pronouns, hobbies, and favorite color" on the chalk board. "I'll start, My name is Ms. Hardly my pronouns are she/her, I like playing with animals and my favorite color is white. Now you" she said pointing at Hunter making him squeak.

"Ms.Hardly, he has stage fright can I help him" I said, she nodded her head and I walked up with him putting a mask on his face to help with nerves

"May I ask what the mask I'd for" she asked. I looked at him and he nodded signaling for me to to her tell her.

"He feels more confident in a mask, it makes him feel safe" I say smiling as Hunter nodded his head saying he was ready

"Alright my name is Hunter I'm 16,my pronouns are He/Him, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, and my favorite color is gold" he said before speed walking back to the seat and u did the same until the teacher called me up.

"Okay" I start before getting completely terrified and a feather sprouted from my wrist without me knowing "my name is Rhapsody I'm 15½ years old, my pronouns are She/Them, I enjoy doing Bard magic with my Nini and hanging out with my little brothe-" I said before being interrupted by king running into the room and clinging onto my leg "as I was saying before I was RUDELY" interrupted my favorite colors are Purple, Teal, and White" I say picking up King and sitting down

"Why is the dog here" Hunter said once I sat at the seat

"I don't know" I replied

"I snuck in when Eda came to take you to this torture house" he said before bapping my face

Once we finished introducing ourselves the lunch bell rang and we all ran to lunch me still holding my little brother. I went into the lunch room to see Mama and Nini talking with Bump

"Mama, Nini" I said running over and hugging my parents and startling them

"Hey Kiddo" mama said hugging me back and patting my head "go eat your lunch I need to find k- never mind I found him" she said picking up king who started kicking the air trying to escape

"He must've missed you" Nini said patting my head "Now go sit with your friends"

"Bye Mama bye Nini" I said running to Hunter who was sitting with Luz and some of her friends plus Luna

"Rhapsody! " Luz exclaimed as I sat down in front of her and next to Hunter

"Hey guys, Luz who are they? " I asked pointing at two girls and a boy sitting next to Luz

"This is Willow" she said pointing at a girl with bluish hair and green eyes "that's Amity" she said pointing at a girl with green and brown hair "and that over there is Gus" she finished pointing at a boy holding a paperclip next to his eat listening to the sound it made.

"Nice to meet y'all, I'm Rhapsody this is Luna and Hunter" I said opening my lunch box and grabbing my non alcoholic apple blood and Griffin Egg sandwich.

"Nice to meet you to" Gus said smiling "woah you're in Illusions, Beast Keeping, Bard, Potions, AND Abomination?! That's so cool"

"Thanks, Hunter here is in all except Potions since he " doesn't need it"

"Don't mock me" he said playfully hitting me making me giggle

"So who's Luna to you guys? " Amity asked looking at the girl who was quietly eating her food

"She's my sister and Rhapsody helps babysit her" Hunter said before I could get a word out of my mouth

"Shut up she sees me as a sister too" I say playfully shoving him making him do the same

"That's because you keep hanging out with Darius"

"Leave Uncle Dari out of this" I say poking his cheek

"Y'all act like a couple" Luz said making my face turn bright red

"NO WE DO NOT" We both exclaimed making Luz and Gus roll their eyes as the bell screamed once again

"See y'all after school" I say throwing away my trash and running back to class thinking about what Luz said the rest of the day.

I ran out of the school straight towards my parents wrapping them in a tight hug with Luz following close behind

"How was school" Nini asked letting go.

"Goo-" I started before Mama interrupted seeing the feathers on my wrist

"Rhapsody, your wrist" she said grabbing my hand showing me the feathers I failed to notice

"Wha- HOLY SHIT" I exclaimed noticing that my wrist was covered in feathers. I quickly rummaged through my bag grabbing out an elixir and chugging it down as fast as possible "How did I not see that"

"I don't know" Luz exclaimed as the feathers either delicately fell if my skin or went back through it.

"Let's get home before that happens again" I say now freaking out as I board my palasmin and start flying home with Luz on my staff and Nini on Mama's. We got home and raced inside not even saying hi to Hooty or King. I ran to my room slamming the door letting the tears I had no idea formed roll down my cheeks as fear built up inside me and I sat on the floor. I heard a knock at my door. Before I could say anything Mama came in and sat beside me wrapping me in a hug that I slowly returned placing my face on her shoulder, my tears soaking her shirt. She drew circles on my skin with her finger being careful not to cut me with her long nails. I eventually stopped crying sitting up wiping my face with my hand.

"Hey, I know it's scary but trust me, we'll get through this together, okay" Mama said, I replied nodding my head not trusting my voice to work with me. "It time for you and Nini to head back to the castle, remember if butt face asks anything you know what to say"

I nodded and quickly grabbed my golden guard outfit that was just a more feminine version of hunters, and quickly changed into it and to make the "back from mission" effect more real I added a few stains and tears with dirt and scissors

"Ready" I said running down stairs to see Nini and Mama kiss each other's cheeks "Eww romance" I joked pulling out my palasmin and transforming them into a staff and boarding with Nini flying out of the owl house and towards "home"
