It's now the middle of math class, and there's some good news and some bad news.
The good news was that the math teacher called in sick today, and the substitute teacher let everyone do their own thing as long as the class remained at a low volume, which also meant that Kenji could finish the last pages of his novel.
The bad news is that this meant that Caleb wouldn't have anything to focus on, and the only thing he seems to actually succeed at in school was tormenting poor Kenji.
However, it's been hours since Caleb's done or said anything to him, and it only made Kenji feel even more anxious.
Kenji flipped a page, nervously anticipating what might happen. Was he gonna be hit? Jumped? Stabbed?? Or has he finally scared off the guy?
Kenji thought that maybe that push from earlier had made Caleb think twice about picking on him, but something within him told Kenji that Caleb was more likely planning for revenge instead. Something big.
He could feel the fierce gaze that's being layed upon him from behind.
Kenji gulped.
Something seemed to be telling him that that gaze was even angrier than before.
"Oh god, what have I done?" He thought, flipping a page while trying to act as calm as possible. A cold sweat rolled down the side of his face while hairs stood up at the back of his neck.
RIIINNNGGGGGG
The bell suddenly chimed loudly, making Kenji jump. It was finally recess.
"Alright you may all leave now." The substitute teacher dismissed the class as he got up and fixed his glasses.
Kenji got up as soon as everyone else did. He's had enough of this unbearable tention, it almost made him nauseous.
He scrambled for his books but the tremble in his arms was anything but calm.
"This isn't over." A deep whisper came by his ear.
A hand landed firmly on his shoulder as a chill went up his spine.
When the hand left, Kenji still felt as if he couldn't move from fear.
To be honest, Kenji didn't care about Caleb as much as you would first think. He was annoying at best, but it was the fact that Caleb would intentionally bang on tables or lockers to intimidate him that was troublesome. As well as his eyes that at times almost looked like they glowed red with rage.
If there was something Kenji fit inside the stereotypical "quiet kid", it was that he would often be listening in on other's conversations, even when he wasn't trying to.
With the short amount of time that Kenji's attended Keystone High, he's already heard plenty of rumors about Caleb. Some said he attacked a student once at a mall, or that he was caught doing drugs or drinking alcohol on school grounds.
But the most popular rumor is that he was and still is apart of a gang, and that his hands are most definitely not clean.
