"One barbecue meal please, hold the-"
In the middle of Fuutarou ordering what he would call a meal, a couple coins landed on his tray catching his attention. He let off a slight smile and faced the cafeteria lady once again.
"Just the barbecue meal please" He ordered.
Only a few minutes had passed since Kaito and Fuutarou left the Nakano sisters behind, and as of present they were currently ordering their own lunches within the school's cafeteria.
Fuutarou received and paid for his lunch, and stood aside as he waited for his best friend to order his own.
As Kaito approached him, he opened his mouth to speak.
"Not that I don't appreciate it, but you really don't need to pay for my food Kaito."
"It's not gonna stop me if you're just gonna end up starving yourself bro." Kaito confessed, beginning to walk to their usual table. "I know how unfortunate your family situation is so, I can at least try help a man out, right?"
Having known Fuutarou for just past a decade at this point, Kaito was well aware of his friend's financial issues. Him and his family had offered to help the Uesugi's on many occasions in the past, but they always turned them down - not wanting to feel indebted to them. But that never stopped Kaito from looking out for his brother.
"Well, thanks again Kaito. I'll pay you back one day."
"There's no need for that Fuutarou, I'm just doing what I feel is right!"
The pair reached their usual table before long. But as they proceeded to place down their food trays, two separate trays hit the same table - seemingly appearing out of nowhere. The two boys looked up from the four trays, only to be faced by two familiar faces.
"You two again!?" Spat Nino, "We were here first! Back off!"
"This is where we sit every day. You move!" Retorted Fuutarou.
"There's literally an empty table behind you, go sit there!" Nino argued.
"Why don't you go sit there then?" Fuutarou responded.
Itsuki and Kaito could only look at eachother and sigh at the familiar scene of Fuutarou and Nino's back and forth arguing, that felt like it could go on for an eternity.
During their fighting over the table, another group seated themselves at the other available table, which momentarily caused Fuutarou and Nino to pause their shouting match.
"Great, now there's nowhere for you to sit." Nino smugly commented.
"Why don't we all just sit here together? There's usually some spare chairs anyway so I'll go find some." Kaito offered, already walking away to find the chairs.
After only a few minutes of searching, he returned to the table with two chairs for himself and one other person, who he guessed had to be Nino - Judging by how she was the only one still standing, tapping her foot impatiently with her arms crossed.
"You took your time!" She complained, walking up to him and aggressively snatching a chair to sit down herself.
"I'm surprised you let Fuutarou sit down Nino~" Kaito teased.
"I didn't! This loser just sat down and started reviewing his test scores!" She responded, as both her and Kaito taken their seats at the table. "And how rude is that to do when eating? Give me that!"
She quickly snatched Fuutarou's test paper out of his hands. Her face almost instantaneously turned from an aggressively smug grin, into wide eyed astonishment.
