Neither Fuutarou, Kaito, nor Itsuki were prepared for the rare spectacle they would be presented with the next morning.
Before Fuutarou's desk, the butterfly ribbon quint nervously stood. Twirling her hair with her finger, shyly blushing, and looking away from him.
"I-I'm sorry about yesterday, Uesugi..." She finally confessed.
As much as he wanted her to, Kaito never actually expected her to apologise to Fuutarou directly. Especially immediately the next morning. Though, her setting aside her pride for once certainly made his smile return for her.
Strangely Fuutarou didn't look all too bothered by the fact that Nino had literally drugged him. He stared at Nino blankly for a short moment before responding to her.
"Don't worry about it Nino. Apology accepted."
"W-Wait, that's it!?" Nino spat in shock.
Fuutarou moved his head to the side with a confused expression towards her outburst.
"Did you expect me to start berating you or something?" He lackadaisicaly asked.
Both Nino and Itsuki were staring at him with bewildered reactions towards his blunt dismissal of acceptance. Though to Kaito, this was just Fuutarou being Fuutarou. The might of God could strike him down, but as long as he survived with his textbooks, he'd learn to carry on as normal.
A strange man indeed was Fuutarou Uesugi.
"You... J-Just don't get so full of yourself Uesugi!" Nino slammed her hand onto his table, "And don't think this means I have accepted you either! Hmph."
After she concluded her attempt at an apology, her usual fire had returned. Which was quite heartwarming to Kaito to say the least. Nino marched over to her seat, sitting herself down as dramatically as possible.
Eventually, she noticed her neighbour's gaze fixed upon her.
"What do you want?" She questioned with a disgusted tone.
"Nothing, I'm just proud of you is all." Kaito sincerely smiled.
Having not expected that kind of answer from him, her face faintly reddened and her heart skipped a beat. After his confrontation of her the previous night, she couldn't help but feel more warmly towards him. She didn't know what it meant, but he hadn't left her mind ever since his departure from their home.
"S-Shut up... don't tease me so early in the morning..." Nino timidly responded, turning away from him.
"You don't need to have so many walls up Nino." Kaito calmly added.
Her gaze shot back towards him. He was softly looking at her with a sincere, innocent smile. A smile she longed to see since last night.
"I..."
"I'm not telling you what to do though, just some friendly advise."
Nino never expected him to be so genuine with her after what happened. As thankful as she was for him comforting her that night, she had still harmed a man who was like a brother to him. Nino half expected him to start ignoring her, or at least act more coldly. That's exactly what she would have done to somebody if they had harmed her sisters, if not worse. Her heart had only ever felt so warm a handful of times before.
"Besides, you're a lot cuter when you're more honest ya know~"
He just had to go and ruin it...
"Y-You..." Nino punched his shoulder in heated response to his teasing. "You just had ruin the moment didn't you!? You can't control yourself from teasing me for more than a minute can you!?"
