22. At your side...until you die

Crash!!!!!

The door was smashed open and Seras came in, seeing us tied up. "Sir Integra, NA!!!" She was concerned, as we didn't reply to her. She removes the spears of Integra, shaking her lightly. This made her open her eyes...slowly..."Seras, what are you doing here." He voice was low and weak, hardly a whisper. The police girl wrapped a blanket around Integra, before going to the altar. "N/A?" she touched me slightly, only to receive a scream out of me, which made her fall back on to the floor.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH" it felt like fire, as she touched me. Tears were streaming down my face as I moved around, in hope the pain will go away.

Seras could only watch me suffer. She couldn't see any injury on me; it was up to Integra to explain the situation. It was getting less painful, once we were outside the tower, while the wind seems to control the fire from spreading. Although, it only felt that way, the proof was the tattoo that already reached my chest.

"Where's Alucard?" asked Integra, sitting on the grass. She was awfully pale and sweating. Seras was curtain, that her master will win this battle, the true original...Alucard. All we could hear, was buildings getting destroyed, fire spreads around London, like the great fire back then. It all came to an end, as a massive scream erupted from the deepest pits of hell.

That's when I knew, the battle is over, Alucard defeated him once and for all. I checked on to my chest...the tattoo...has stopped. Seras came me a big smile, feeling the same "Master won N/A!" I returned the smile, until I fell towards the floor...out cold.

"N/A!!!"

The next few days I was sleeping in a bed beside Alucard's coffin. He kept an eye on me ever since he returned to us. Seras informed me later, that he wasn't pleased to see me in my previous condition. He somehow was mumbling under his breath on how useless he was, protecting me. I couldn't get it though, he saved us all. Why would he even think like that?

I got my answer...as I tried to get up.

"Seras, why can't I just move my upper body?" she seems to know the answer, as she looked away. He expression was full of worry "The curse...isn't broken...it never will."

"What?" I was close to tears as I heard her. Just now, I was hoping that I was dreaming that it all was just a bad dream.

But Seras wasn't finished there, as she continued "Master said; it will spread through your body very slowly, breaking you from the inside...until it will reach your heart." Out of reflex I raised my shirt up to see the tattoo. It went back, only my legs and waist were covered.

I should be glad though, as I get more time to live, however, how much are we talking about? A week? A month? A year? Longer? I don't know.

Seras helped me into the wheelchair, pushing me out the door. We were on the ground floor, in a guest room, heading toward the terrace. Worried over my life, I asked Seras to leave me. I wanted to alone with my thoughts, while the full moon greeted me from afar. I waited a few minutes, till I broke out in tears, crying out loud. Every fear I just had, I screamed them out into the night, only to receive the ice cold silence of the night. "You will catch a cold when you out here" his voice was the only thing soothing just now, compared to the light breeze, howling around the house. "Like it would matter anymore...I will die...sooner or later"I said, not looking at him, as he stood beside me. "Forgive me...I have failed you" "What?" An apology is unusual to hear from this vampire wasn't easy to get used to. I had let out a small laugh, asking him "Okay, what have you done to Alucard?"

He chuckled at my question, giving me the smile I came to love in time. Before it was just...creepy! "At least you haven lost your sense of humor."

"How long?"I asked him, after a minute of silence.

He knew what I meant, looking at the moon "I can't tell, it can happen at any time."

"Could you...turn me?" he shook his head no, telling me that it prevents him from turning me.

Crap!

"Then I guess, I will spend it in my room" I said, moving my wheelchair around, until he stopped me.

"Human already have a short life, I will not allow you to waste it by sitting in a room!" he said, rather harsh. He kneeled before me holding my hands, looking deep into my eyes. "I haven't given you the best time of your life..."

"you telling me, although there were something I like to do, I thought, receiving a hit onto my head.

Owwwww!!!!

He withdraws his hand back onto my lab "...I haven't finished yet. I gave you quite the hell on earth, sending you to the hospoital or getting into trouble...but..." he kissed my hand tenderly "...you also touched my heart, making it beat again for a few seconds...It was the most rewarding thing you can give to a monster such as myself. For that I want to return the favour."

I had to smirk at his words "Are you sure it wasn't when I touched your gr..."

The next hit was a lot harder

Ooowwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!

He sighted deeply "Why couldn't that curse destroy your filfthy mind instead?"

I winked "Because its cures resistant!"

This time, I got a slap!

Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwww that hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I hope you behave more on out trip" he said, rolling his eyes in annoyance.

"Trip? What trip?" I couldn't remember any vacation I planned. Do even vampires go on holiday?

He released my hands and went back towards the moon "I discussed it with my Master; she will be in prison for a long time. She gave me the permission to take you to all of those places you want to see, no matter how long it takes...until you leave my side one day."

I was speechless!

He noticed, as I looked at the chair I sat in "It doesn't matter to me if you are disabled, as long you are alive, that's all that matters to me."

He went back to me, once again, leaning down...only to share an unforgettable kiss.

It was unforgettable to me alright!

He took me out of the wheelchair and places my body onto his lab, while we both looked up to the moon. This became a regular thing for us in time.

At the same time, Alucard thought back of his master.

He got to the room she was held imprisoned. He grabbed the glass of wine on the table, holding it before his master. "Integra, my Master. Your orders..." with such force, he smashed the glass in his hand, smiling wide at her "...the decision is yours."

She returned the smile, closing her eyes "Make her happy." She didn't have to mention my name, as he knew who she was talking about. He was about to reply, until she stopped him "She is the only one that managed to move your heart and had the courage to stay at your side...you owe her! She won't be around you forever...spend the last bit of life she has at her side...once she dies, then and only then, you are allowed to return to the organization...that's an order!"

Alucard hugged me tighter against him, whispering towards the moon "Thank you...my master."
