Devin's POV
I woke up in Chris's arms with no recollection of how I got here. Looking around the room, I remembered the events of earlier. Chris's hold on me tightened when I shifted. Being in his arms felt so right. It was like the entire universe was in alignment. Kissing his nose softly, I untangled his arms and went to go pee. When I came back, Chris asked where I went as he yawned. "I went to pee."
"Alright. So what happens next?"
That I did not know. " She told you didn't she." I asked
He nodded. Running a hand through my hair, I grabbed at it." If you want to leave, there's the door. I'm not stopping you."
When he stood up, my heart hit my feet and I wanted to throw up and die. But when he stood in front of me, He grabbed my hand and held it. "I'm not going anywhere, no matter how hard you try to push me away."
I was speechless. Out of all the possibilities I had thought of, him staying wasn't one of them. He hugged me and said, "no matter how bumpy the road gets, I'll be here." I pulled away and smiled before hugging him again. Mom came and knocked on the door and said, "I'm going to go and make a snack. What do you want?" "I'm fine, I'm not hungry." I answered automatically. "Dev." she said. "You know what's on the list. Just whatever then." " Okay. And Chris come here a second." she said and he followed. He came back and was biting his left lip ring.
"She said that she needs to know how much you weigh but she doesn't want you to know." He said softly.
"Figures." I mumbled.
Mom brought in the scale and put it in front of me. "Off with all the layers."
Looking at the floor, I took off the jacket and the T-shirt. "Long sleeves too and the sweat pants." Pulling off my shoes, I then removed my sweat pants. I was left in my leggings. "I suppose the leggings can stay," she said.
Nodding. I stepped onto the scale. As I tried to look, Chris put a finger under my chin and looked me in the eyes. I stared into his eyes and got lost. It was when Chris looked away, when I came back to reality. He handed me my clothes and kept eye contact with me the entire time. I knew he was afraid to look at me he was disgusted.
"I am not disgusted. I'm heart broken. How can someone so beautiful hate how beautiful they are?" He said.
I looked away I didn't have an answer. "Devin, I want you to get better. I want to be with you. But to be with you, you need to get better. If you want this to work, you'll have to try."
I nodded. Who could care about someone so broken?
"It's because I care, that I want to wait. If we rush into things, we'll regret it. I want to take it slow. I want to fall for you more and more. I want this to last. But if you're not ready, I don't want to pressure you. I want you to be happy."
"You'd date someone with mental illness?" I asked.
"I'd be a damn hypocrite if I refused too." he said with his eyes on the ground.
It took a few minutes but he said, " I went through a lot of things for quite a while. I was madly in love with this girl and she treated me like a puppet to get what she wanted. She used me and dumped me like I was less than nothing. She then told people how pathetic I was. She made my life hell because she could. I got really bad depression. I turned to music for comfort. I started the band. We were named new car smell, for quite a while until Balz complained about it."
"New car smell?" I asked.
"Pretty terrible right?" He asked.
I laughed and nodded. We sat down on the bed and we started to talk about music. He told me about his band, their songs. Their new name was "motionless in white". He went by Chris Motionless on stage. They all had nicknames apparently. Ricky went by Ricky horror, Josh went by his last name, Ryan went by Ryan and Vinny went by Vinny and Tj went by Tj.
He played me one of their songs on his phone. They were actually really good. He showed me photos from their last tour. He also showed me Ashley's band, New Years Day. They we are really good. I didn't know that Ash could sing like that. The rest of the day we spent talking about music. My mom brought us food. I didn't want to eat it but Chris didn't pressure me to eat it, he only suggested I did so that I didn't get sicker. I don't know how he convinced me but he convinced me to eat it. And I managed to keep it down.
"Let's go on an adventure," he suggested. I nodded. He then went around my room getting my clothes out. "What do you want to wear?" "What would we be doing?" I asked back. "How does the beach sound?" "Sounds good." I pointed to the left side of my closet and told him to pick whatever.
He handed me a plaid skirt with black footless tights that were warm and thick socks with my boots. I put it on, and he handed me a black long sleeve shirt and a T-shirt to go over it. Grabbing my jacket, I put it on top. Chris grabbed my makeup and did it how I normally did. "What time is it?" I asked. "It's 8." I nodded. He told my mom where we were going and we walked out to his car. Getting in, he played HIM on the radio and we tapped our fingers along to the beat. The drive was only about 20 minutes. It was the first time in years that I would be going to the beach.
When we got there, I was excited. Chris took my hand and showed me wear we had to climb down. He went first so if I fell, he would catch me. When we finally got to the shore,I took off my boots and socks and rolled up my tights to my knees as Chris rolled up his jeans and took off his shoes. We walked along the shore and played in the water. We went back to the car when the tide began to get rougher and higher. My ankle began to throb; it wouldn't be long before it would be unmovable. I got up to the car before it began to lock up. I rolled my tights down and put on my socks, trying to warm up. "Are you could?" Chris asked. I nodded. He handed me a coat that was in the back.
Wrapping it around me, he also turned up the heater. By the time we got back, it was late. "Do you want to stay?" I asked. He nodded and smiled. While I was Changing into some drier and warmer clothes, he said, "I'm going to get some of my clothes and bring some for tomorrow," before going home to his house.
He came back not too long after and set his stuff down by the window before crawling into bed with me. "How is your ankle?"
"It's locked up. At this point, I can't walk on it and not be in pain. I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow for school but I'm not missing another day." I answered.
"You could use crutches if it doesn't get better." he suggested.
"Yeah, I'll figure something out."
He nodded. Wrapping his arms around me, he hugged me tightly. There was nowhere else in the universe I'd rather be then in his arms.
