It felt right with you, even when it was wrong.
I waited for you, while you were waiting for her
and while you were kissing her
like the sun kisses the sand on a warm summer's day.
I was idiotic to wait, I was idiotic to whisper, while my poems screamed for you to give me the chance I would've taken
but now it's too late.
Now your delicate heart is shattered in the violent hands of another girl.
yet you picked up the shards and ran to me to piece it together again like you always do,
though I know I'd be lying if I said I didn't want you to.
But I hate that you're thoughtful.
And I hate that you're sweet
and I hate how you remember everything about me.
I hate that you make it hard to walk away when I'm fighting everything in me to not stay.
I wish i didn't want you from the start, but the heart wants what the heart wants
and I'm nothing but a slave to it now.
