The moon cast an eerie glow over the dense forest as the Clayton family, hidden behind a towering mango tree, observed the tribe that resided in the rumble woods. Ura, the newest member of the family, donned her dog mask with excitement, a symbol of her loyalty and dedication. Meanwhile, Shubhangi struggled to match the heartlessness of the other Clayton family members. Her innate humanity seemed to resist the darkness that consumed the rest.
For days, the Clayton family had been spying on the tribe, estimating their numbers to be around 20 individuals. Their plan was to infiltrate a hut belonging to a tribal family of six, consisting of an elderly grandfather, grandmother, and their four unmarried children. The night of the full moon had arrived, a time when the tribe adorned their respective animal masks, and it presented the perfect opportunity for the Clayton family's hunt.
Ura, brimming with anticipation, silently broke into the hut. To her surprise, the interior was larger than expected, filled with peculiar objects such as animal bones, bows and arrows, and a crowbar. The tribal family members lay sleeping on the ground, each keeping a distance from one another. Ura swiftly seized the crowbar and delivered a fatal blow to a teenage tribal boy, the youngest of the family. However, the mother, awake despite her weak eyesight, mistook Ura for her older daughter and let out a piercing scream. The entire family, along with the rest of the tribe, awoke in an instant. Ura's escape attempt was futile.
The enraged tribe members closed in on Ura, striking her with bamboo sticks. Meanwhile, the rest of the Clayton family, positioned behind the mango tree, heard the old woman's cry and witnessed the tribe converging on the hut they had chosen as their hunting ground. The family faced a difficult choice: abandon their prominent member to her uncertain fate or intervene and eliminate the tribe members for their survival.
Quickly formulating a plan, they decided to create a diversion. Shubhangi, given the task, stepped forward without hesitation. She was instructed to set one of the huts ablaze. With a lighter and a canister of kerosene in hand, she ignited the hut, flames engulfing the structure. The tribe members, thrown into disarray, rushed toward another hut containing water containers, their focus shifted to extinguishing the growing inferno.
Unbeknownst to the tribe members, Dhruv and Naval lay in wait inside the water hut. As the disoriented tribe members sought refuge, Dhruv swung his axe, severing the head of one of them with brutal precision. The tribe members, stunned by the sudden assault, struggled to react in time. Capitalizing on the chaos, Naval delivered another surprise attack, plunging his sword deep into the heart of a tribe member. The forest echoed with the cries and confusion of the tribe, now caught off guard.
Meanwhile, inside the hut where Ura was trapped, she managed to slip away from the tribe members' sight, desperately seeking an escape. Shubhangi, on her assigned task, spotted Ura and swiftly approached her. Without hesitation, Shubhangi led Ura deeper into the woods, evading the tribe members in the midst of their disorganized frenzy.
As they ran through the thick undergrowth, their footsteps barely audible, Shubhangi glanced at Ura, her face etched with concern. "We need to keep moving. We have to find a safe place," Shubhangi whispered, her voice laced with determination.
Ura, her breath ragged, nodded in agreement. "Thank you, Shubhangi. I don't know what would
have happened if you hadn't come for me," she murmured gratefully.
"We're in this together now," Shubhangi replied, her voice filled with an unexpected warmth.
