"you don't believe me?" donte asks and kandi rolls her eyes sitting down on her bed. he had been blowing her phone up and kandi is just now answering his calls. she was still pissed about the random woman messaging her on their trip in bali.
"no, i don't believe you and i never will, get the fuck off my phone donte." kandi says into her phone and hangs up, she rubs her temples before heading downstairs to see naiya watching tv. "mama, why did we have to end our vacation so early?" she asks while playing with her barbie doll.
"people like to do terrible things baby, you'll understand once you get older." kandi tells naiya while watching her play with her dolls, "you want to go to the water park?"
"yes!" naiya gets up and runs to her room while kandi fixes the house up a tiny bit before heading upstairs to take a shower.
getting out twenty-five minutes later, kandi connects her phone to the pink bluetooth speaker she just recently bought for herself.
i'm obsessed with pink. kandi thinks to herself while drying herself off in the mirror.
i can be by aaliyah begins playing and kandi mumbles along to the lyrics while starting to put on her clothes.
i can be the other woman in your life
i can be the other reason you're out at nightkandi continues listening to the song when a random thought pops up into her head. finally finishing her clothes, kandi thinks back at the lady who attempted to kick sand in her eyes.
"something's not right," kandi mumbles to herself when she watches the way she does her baby edges in the mirror. who was she and why did she do that?
shrugging it off for the time being, kandi continues to get ready before grabbing her beach bag and placing her necessities for the water park inside of the bag. she hears little feet running down to her bedroom, "you ready naiya baby? here mommy comes."
kandi puts on her swimsuit and cover-up, afterwards putting on a gold anklet she recently purchased along with her sandals. grabbing her phone and bag, kandi opens her bedroom door to see naiya smiling, "hi mama!"
"hi baby boo! let's grab your shoes and head to the water park princess," kandi says while picking up naiya and walking inside of her princess and the frog themed bedroom.
she sits naiya down on the bed while grabbing naiya's blue crocs and sliding them on her feet, grabbing a kid towel from naiya, kandi smiles at naiya, "okay baby, we're ready to go."
the mother and daughter duo walk out the door with kandi locking the door behind them. naiya skips down to the car while her mother walks behind her and laughs, "don't skip too fast mama. i have to see you in my vision."
naiya stops and waits for her mother resulting in kandi scooping her up and leaving kisses all over her face. naiya giggles as she holds onto her mother tightly while her mother opens the backseat car door. putting naiya inside her car seat, kandi reaches over and grabs naiya's ipad handing it to her. "thank you mama," naiya says kissing her mother's cheek.
"you welcome princess," kandi smiles and straps naiya in before closing the door, making her way over to the driver side. she gets inside setting her beach bag in the passenger seat and putting on her seatbelt. starting the car, kandi looks at her daughter through the mirror with a smile on her lips, "okay, ready mama?"
nodding her head, naiya smiles, "i'm ready!"
—
kandi pulls up to the local water park, it's not too crowded which is a good thing. she's able to find a good parking spot that's near a shaded area. turning off her car, kandi grabs her keys and bag before closing the door and walking to naiya's side of the car.
she opens the door and is met with a giggly naiya, taking her seatbelt off of naiya, kandi sees someone walk up to her car out the corner of her eye.
"excuse me?" a deep voice asks and kandi turns her head right to see a man looking at her with a smile on his face. "hi." kandi says with her voice laced with confusion.
"i just wanted to say you're beautiful, i'm darren." kandi hums, looking darren up and down before giving him a small smile. "thank you." kandi goes back to getting naiya out her car seat while telling darren her name, "my name's kandi."
"oh that's wassup, like kandi cane? that's kind of fire." kandi snickers a bit before closing the car door and holding naiya in her arms. "yeah, i guess you can say that."
"this is my daughter naiya." kandi tells darren as he smiles, naiya looks darren up and down before turning her attention back to her ipad.
"damn, that kind of hurt." darren says in regards to what naiya did and kandi tilts her head as she begins walking to the entrance, "she's my mini-me. she can do whatever she wants, ain't that right princess?"
naiya nods her head while watching youtube videos and darren just stares at the mother and daughter. it's quiet for a minute until the trio gets in line for tickets, "you from here?" darren asks and kandi nods her head, "sure am, what about yourself?"
darren laughs a little shaking his head, "nah, i'm from alabama, country shit youn kno' bout."
"maybe i don't want to know about it." kandi says before putting on a fake smile for darren and walking through the security checkpoint.
"touché." darren laughs while walking through the checkpoint after naiya and kandi.
—
"you got a man?" darren asks while kandi watches naiya play in the kiddy pool. "that's none of your concern." kandi tells darren while placing shades over her eyes.
"oh? that just must mean you're still fooling around with your baby daddy."
that's none of his business at all! kandi's mind screams at her as she gets reminded of the recent bali trip with donte.
turning her head at darren, kandi just laughs at him, "it's only been like an hour of us meeting each other. can't we talk about what we both enjoy and our thoughts on topics? you don't even know if i'm interested in you, sir."
throwing his hands up in surrender, darren shakes his head in agreement, "you right. my apologies. i guess i forgot to speak to a fine woman properly."
"yeah i guess you did."
chuckling, darren leans over to be near kandi more, "now tell me about yourself, ma."
—
"i had a good time today with you." darren says leaning out of kandi's window, naiya said she was hungry and it was time for the two to head back home. "everyone has a good time on the kandi train," kandi says with a smirk.
"is that so? well may i please have your number so i can spend more time on the kandi train?" darren questions while putting out his phone so kandi can put in her digits.
she looks darren up and down before quickly putting in her number, starting her car afterwards. "thank you ma, i'll be in touch soon."
"i'm sure you will, goodnight darren."
"goodnight kandi cane."
