19 YEARS PRIORSatoru was always someone who was proud. Whether it be about his looks, his cursed techniques, his status, his power, and the list goes on, Satoru was someone proud. His already enormous ego only becoming bigger by the day made sure that this pride of his would remain until the end of time, almost like a stain on a clothe that no matter what won't leave. By some, it could be seen as a flaw, a big flaw, even. Too much pride would shape someone into becoming arrogant, egocentric, self-centered, selfish, insolent and the list, once again goes on and on and on. Pride was a good thing, yes, but in too much quantity, it could become an issue. Once someone knew the taste of pride, they would become addicted and always want more. Pride was a wonderful feeling and was something good, but every good thing like pride should be consumed with carefulness. Pride was like alcohol or drug, once one is addicted to it, it is difficult to go back. It can cause permanent consequences, bad or good consequences. Every good thing can quickly become something bad.
Satoru Gojo has been feeding on pride ever since his younger age. He was constantly swimming in a pool full of pride. A pride that kept on getting bigger. Sometimes, he would go out of the pool and take a small pause, but it wouldn't take long before he would dive back in and swim to his heart's content. And more the years would pass, and more this pool would grow bigger, at the same pace his ego would grow. Many would wonder how it was even possible to be someone so prideful, but in truth, it wasn't that difficult to understand. Satoru had been born with two insanely cursed techniques, 'Limitless' and the well-known 'Six eye'. Satoru Gojo was someone important, powerful and that was worth in many ways, in the jujutsu world or on the black market, his worth was enough to knock someone that had never heard of him unconscious. Every day, everyone would remind him of his strength, his power, his worth, his importance, and of course, his ego would only grow, and his pool of pride would grow along.
But it was not because he was so self-centered, that he was completely selfish or heartless. Satoru was still a human with feelings and emotions, he was more than his pride, his self-centered attitude, his limitless ego, and his arrogance. He was more than that, and not many people could see it, if there was really someone that could see past his attitude. If there was truly someone that could see past his status, see past his techniques, see past his power or see past his name. Was there someone that could see past all of those thick layers? Was there? Satoru himself couldn't see more than this, so maybe there truly was no one who could see him more than what he showed and how he acted.
And would there be ever someone who would see more than that? Would there ever be someone that would be willing to see more of what Satoru would show? Would there ever be someone that would be able to see more of him? Would there ever be? Unfortunately, only the future knew the answers to those questions.
But if there was one thing that was certain for now, Nanami certainly could see how proud Gojo looked the next time he saw him. His usual arrogant grin seemed even more prideful and wide. He looked at him and he instantly knew he had done something. It was written on his forehead in capital letters and bold font. The white-haired sorcerer was leaning against the wall in a hallway of the Jujutsu school, appearing even more mischievous and insolent than usual. When he saw him, looking at him through the dark shades that hid his light eyes, Nanami stopped in his track and stayed silent for a few moments, a frown on his face as he tried to guess what the older student did. The white-haired sorcerer tilted his head to the side, his smirk only widening as he looked at his junior.
"Sanae Hinode, huh? Pretty name, don't you think?" Nanami's eyes widened when he heard the name of his best friend coming from the mouth of Satoru. The older chuckled at his reaction, his smile becoming more mocking and insolent.
