Remus loved walking with Sirius. Something about being in the other boy's presence was just so comforting. Maybe because Sirius's constant talking about everything and nothing helped Remus his mind just drift into the moment. He appreciated that peace.
Ever since he was young, Remus always had a busy head. It was never quiet he was always thinking. Whether it was about school or his friends, or even his father. He always had something on his mind.
But when he was with Sirius, it was different. It's like his mind could find peace and he could just take a break.
The sun was setting behind the castle as the two walked by the lake. The slight chill in the air was accompanied by a breeze that made Sirius's hair blow in front of his face while he was talking. Remus give a small smile as he watched his friend attempt to keep his hair out of his face.
"Remus?" Sirius asked.
"What?" Remus looked over to the younger boy.
" I said, am I annoying by talking too much?" Sirius had stopped walking.
"No, you're annoying me I like it when you talk," Remus said honestly.
"Then why do you hate me?" Sirius cocked his head.
"What?" Remus stepped back, confused, " I don't hate you. What are you talking about?"
"Yes, you do. You hate me. You won't talk to me. I did something wrong."
"Sirius, you could never do anything wrong," Remus tried to reassure the older boy.
"Yes, I did," Sirius looked sad. His face became harder to see as the sun went down in the moon came out, " I betrayed you, but I didn't mean to,"
"No," Remus just shook his head. What was he talking about? Sirius did not betray him. He couldn't have. He wouldn't have.
" I did, and now it's too late to fix it," Sirius stepped closer placing a small kiss on Remus's cheek. He pulled away with a sad smile, "It's OK, everything will be fixed now," He looked up as clouds glided by the night sky, revealing the full moon.
No.
No, no no no no no.
Remus started shaking. He can't turn. Not here. Not now.
Why hasn't Sirius changed yet? He has to get out of here, please.
Remus felt the familiar cracking of his bones. He flinched as his muscles shifted. Everything in his body completely ripped itself apart to become something different. Something dark. Something that Remus couldn't stand about himself.
He watched through changing eyes as his sight became muted and narrowed. Narrowed on Sirius. On his pray.
Please, no. The human part of him prayed. Pleaded. Not him.
His pleas were ignored by the wolf. Just as they always were.
The worst part was, Sirius wasn't even moving. He wasn't trying to run. Or to escape. He just stood there. The same sad look in his eyes. A content look.
