(A/N: Preparations for the GLR rewrite are in full swing, here to confirm that after I'm done here on Wattpad, GLR WILL be rewritten and moved to AO3. Thank you to everyone who's supported this series through the years. On another note, I've created a brand new GLR discord server, link is in my bio.)

The sun cast a beautiful golden glow across the hills of Hazzard that morning, warming the November air. The town was surprisingly busy this early in the morning. The streets had been quite congested with traffic and people bustled back and forth across them.

Enos whistled as he pulled up to the curb in his cruiser, waiting patiently as Caleb worked to parallel park himself. The Defect proceeded to let him know that he was finished by shutting his engine off and settling on the pavement. Enos grinned and climbed out, shutting the door gently.

"It ain't too hot out here for you, is it buddy-roe?" he asked in a friendly tone.

Caleb shook himself and settled back down.

Enos smiled. "I'll be back in a little bit, don't go nowhere."

There was no reply other than a stifled snore.

The deputy then turned toward the diner, fiddling nervously with his hands. As he walked towards the diner, he heard a man yell, jumping at the abrupt sound and looking up to see a man scolding a very scared woman clutching her purse.

The man was disheveled, buzzed hair with patchy stubble on his face, wearing a dirty t-shirt and grease-stained pants. Spit flew from between his yellow teeth as he yelled, forcing the woman back towards his van.

"I told you not to leave a tip and what d'you do? You leave 10 Goddamn dollars! You tryna waste my hard-earned money?" the man yelled.

He concluded by calling her a few choice words and shoving her against the side of the van with her wrist twisted. The woman cried apology after apology, but nevertheless, her boyfriend remained angry.

Enos's smile faded as he walked toward them, shoving his hands in his pockets to keep them from fidgeting. The man cussed at his girlfriend once more before noticing Enos was there.

The man was easily much shorter than the deputy, and a look of fear crossed his eyes as Enos offered him a kind smile.

"'Scuse me sir, but you oughta not be treatin' this nice young lady like that," he said calmly.

"Oh yeah?" the man scoffed, taking a step back, "what're you gonna do 'bout it?"

Enos shrugged. "Well, I ain't on duty right now but I could still arrest ya for..." Enos began counting on his fingers, "harassment, creatin' a public nuisance, aggravated assault--"

The man put up his hands. "O-okay! Okay! I'm sorry!"

"Please don't be mean to people, I don't think your momma would appreciate hearin' about that."

The man grew quiet. "I--"

Enos then turned to the woman. "You alright ma'am?"

The woman nodded and shrugged her purse onto her shoulder, quickly walking the other way whilst edging her running eye makeup with her fingernail.

Enos grinned and turned back around, only to find that the man was gone. Satisfied, he turned back to the diner and walked in, a wave of warmth and Dolly Parton's 9 To 5 hitting him. The comforting smell of pancakes and coffee drifted past.

Enos looked around until he found a head of chestnut hair in a booth. He smiled warmly, made his way over, and sat down, watching as Daisy looked up from the newspaper she was reading.
