Ricky, Judas, Oliver, and Brice had returned to Fort Benning very late at night. It was 2:07 in the morning as they strolled back to the billet on high alert. Ricky got flash backs from her time marching here, and how James O'Neil had found her. They all made sure to stay clear from Dog Company's side of camp, so they took the long way around.
"The stars are out." Brice said quietly. "You can see Orion, and the Big Dipper." the other three looked up and admired the beautiful view Brice had spoke of.
"It's so...peaceful." Judas said, smiling up at the sky.
"Almost like the sky is smiling back down at us." Ricky added.
"I hope the sky is still like this when we get deployed." Oliver said out loud. Brice looked at him with soft eyes.
"The sky never changes, no matter what happens to it. It's always there." he said quietly. The four walked in silence once again, glancing up at the sky every once in a while. Ricky had noticed that Brice had gotten even more quiet since his medical training. It was almost like he was distancing himself from the rest of the troop.
They had arrived to the billet five minutes later, and Judas quietly opened the door. The room was filled with the snores and soft breathing of the men. The four quickly and quietly made their way through the billet to their bunks, and carefully went to their beds. They very quietly unpacked their things, gave each other goodnight nods, and then fell asleep at once. They were glad to be back with the company, and were ready to start training again in a day.
"Ginger!" Ricky shot out of her bed to hear someone screaming at her, only to see George Luz standing at her bunk, striking her with a flashy smile. Ricky groaned.
"What the fuck, Luz. It's so early." she grumbled. Luz only laughed and ruffled her red hair, before going over to Oliver and Judas to harrass them.
"How we doing, Levin?" Frank Perconte asked from beside her bed. Ricky rolled over and looked at him.
"Doing alright, Perco. Just a little tired, got back at two last night. Actually, what time is it right now?" Ricky asked him.
Perconte looked at his watch. "It is eight forty-two."
"Ah shit." Ricky muttered.
"Eh, it's fine. How was your first Christmas?" Perconte asked.
"It was really good. We explored Salt Lake City, met Castor's family. It was a really good first Christmas in the books."
"Glad to hear. I just stayed here for the holidays. Luz drove me crazy, but I love him." Perconte laughed. Ricky smiled.
"Him and Jerry are the sunshine of this company, that's for sure." Ricky said, smiling up at him. Perconte slapped her shoulder.
"Alright, let's go Levin. Breakfast awakes." Perconte said, giving her a thumbs up as he left.
Ricky slowly got out of her bed, throwing on her ODs, and standing up. She looked at the top bunk only to see Brice laying on his stomach, with his head shoved under his pillow. She glarred at Luz.
"Really Luz? You're gonna yell at me when this idiot is still passed out up here?" she asked the radio man.
"Oh well, I guess I should wake up the medic." Luz sighed as he walked over to Ricky and began to shake the whole bed. Ricky laughed as she walked out hearing Brice groan and then swear at Luz, making her laugh even harder.
It was a chilly morning in Fort Benning. Ricky walked along the path with her arms wrapped around her body, seeking warmth.
"Hey, wait up Ricky!" Joe Liebgott yelled as he jogged to catch up to her. She turned around and smiled.
