Chapter 26 - A Precious Friend

Heat was really a lucky charm to me that time. I mean, I've always felt so at ease when I'm with him but eversince we got together, it seemed like only good things are happening. 

After he made that scene at the stage that night, Flame and her people stopped with their scheme. With that, hindi na rin ako pinapansin ng roommate ko. But I don't really care anymore kasi dahil do'n, hindi na kami nagpaplastikan. Naiintindihan ko naman siya. Kung ako rin, kahit gaano ko pa kagusto si Heat, titigil din akong magpapansin kung ipinagsigawan niya na sa buong Camp Mitesco kung sino ang mahal niya. Lucky me, it's me.

I was already happy with how things were going, but Brian had another surprise for me three days later.

Inis na inis pa ako no'n kasi ang aga-aga, hindi pa 'ko napupuntahan ni Heat sa cabin namin, ipinapatawag na ako kaagad sa management office. Wala naman akong natatandaang ginawa kong mali bukod sa hampasin ang lahat ng gumugulat sa 'kin—at self defense ang tawag ko ro'n.

"What the hell, Brian—"

"Winter!"

Kakatapak pa lang ng isang paa ko sa loob ng office, muntik na akong mapatalon palabas nang biglang may sumulpot na maliit na babae sa harapan ko. Ngiting-ngiti pa siya at hindi na ako nagulat na teary-eyed din siya.

"Precious?" I said, almost in disbelief. I mean, isn't she on the other side of the world?!

"Winter, super na-miss kita!" sabi niya saka ako dinamba ng yakap. Wala man lang warm up, diretsong humagulgol siya sa balikat ko.

"Why does it seem like you missed Winter more?" Brian asked, sounding so salty but he was looking at us with a smile. "Should I get worried?"

I smirked. "I told you, your girlfriend loves me more than you."

Precious suddenly let go of the hug and looked at my face. Tears were still streaming down her cheeks but her expression was... amused. "OMG, Winter, you have a sense of humor na?!"

Napakunot ang noo ko sa sinabi niya. "Huh?!"

"Oh, nagkita na pala!" We all turned to the still opened door when we heard Heat's voice. He was also smiling while looking at me and Precious. "Naks! Kumpleto na tayo!"

Heat's remark made me look at Precious again, then on Brian, and back to him. Yeah, he's right. We're complete now.

"Breakfast?" pagyaya ni Brian at wala ni isa sa amin ang tumanggi. Like how we always did on the previous year, the four of us ate together—just now with four more people on our table: Sabrina, Frost, Billy and Chan.

Sobrang ingay nila habang kumakain pero hindi ko naisipang magreklamo. Actually, I liked it that our table was so loud.

"Masaya ka?" biglang bulong ni Heat sa tabi ko habang nagkakagulo ang mga kasama namin—well, except Frost na tahimik lang na kumakain at maya't maya lang na ngumingisi.

Napalingon ako kay Heat at nakita ko sa mga mata niyang masaya rin siya.

"Mm." I also smiled and nodded at him. "Are you happy?" I asked him back.

"Sobra!" sagot naman niya.

"Talaga?! Ayoko na palang mag-college!" Napatingin kami pareho kay Billy nang sabihin niya 'yon nang malakas. Mukhang nasa part na sila ng kuwento ni Precious tungkol sa university life sa ibang bansa.
