Darling how the moon shines bright
Above these recklessly churning seas
I stare deeply into its shining eye
My sole point of reference, my guide
For all the while that I must drift on
Your little boat approaches gingerly
Casting shadows over my sparkling
Caps of diamonds and sapphires
Those precious stones lap softly against
The gentle curve of the wandering hull
You place both hands along the edge
And lean into a holy view imbued with
All the light and mischief of that
High sailing and always gazing silver spoon
The halo pierces through suspicion
And shatters all preconceived notions
Which had surfaced upon your approach
But what else is left, then? After I sink
Down deep and out of your reach
And surrender myself to the culling tide?
Do you sail onward, you prudent captain?
Or capsize beneath the crimson horizon?
Preparing to plunge into the uncertain smile
Of this ever spinning ocean, so dazzling,
So blinding as to scorch the maps you've made
Before the salt has a chance to bleed them
Roll up your pitiful scrolls, O Captain Prudence,
Cease your wearisome adventuring here
And fall into me for awhile, beneath this moon
Of dreams so sweet let go of the wide world
And surrender yourself to me
