rolling down steep dunes
of shifting sands
gold sediment caked
in every crevice
as though the very sun
spilled out of
my cracking shell
time's churning sea
of gilded waves
dancing beneath
an eternal sun set
and tossing us
all about it
breaking down
crumbling to dust
spilling over another brim
overflowing years
draining me away
I cannot swim these strokes
wind the currents
trudging down
in the depths
so I remain
filled with sand
my body spills
its cheaply gleaming blood
my years pour out
onto my shoulders
my head floating
in a blinding
golden cloud
