2 years laterEverything has been pretty fine. Jane is now 2 years old and we still live with Emma, Snow and Charming. Today is the day I go back to Neverland, just for a little while. I want to see Peter and maybe the rest of the lost boys. Felix has made no attempts to talk to me or the daughter he doesn't know about. "Momma. Fwy now." Jane gurgles. We're still working in her speaking, but it's coming pretty fast. I shake my head and gesture to Hooks boat. I don't feel totally comfortable with letting a 2 year old travel by pixie dust, so Hook agreed to let us borrow his ship. I pack a bag and we set sail, waving goodbye to the family.
I smell the magic before I see it. I wonder why the barrier still lets me in even though I'm technically not a child anymore, but I am at heart. I help Jane off the boat and grab our bags. When we reach the camp I make sure Felix isn't around before hopping out and making as much noise as possible. The boys all turn to look at me and then break out in a smile. Peter is the first to get to me. Mostly because he froze all the other boys to their spots. "How are you? What happened? Where'd the baby go?" He asks, scared. "Petah Pan." Jane says, with her little bit of an accent. He looks like he's close to tears. He swoops her up and swings her around. "How are you princess? How old are you now?" He asks, still holding her. She looks down and counts out 2 fingers. She quickly raises them proudly. "You've grown so big." He smiles. "Pan it's Felix. He's coming back early." One of the boys whisper, but I can still hear. "And that's my quo to leave." I groan, grabbing my bags and quickly getting myself to the ship. I spin around preparing to put Jane on when I see she isn't there. "Jane! Jane!" I yell. I don't hear a reply and I run back to the camp looking for Peter or Jane. "Ja-." I run flat into someone and fall on my butt. I look up and see the face of the only person I never wanted to see. I roll my eyes and continue running. "Jane!" "Oh, is this the little girl you're looking for?" Peter asks, swinging her from a tree. "Peter, what sane person steals someone's child and then dangles them from a tree?" I yell, holding Jane, checking her for scratches. "She's yours?" Felix asks, from behind me. I nod. "How exciting?" He says, more like a question. "Daddy!" Jane yells, leaping from my arms to Felix's. I never stopped to think she may have seen him in the photos we took. I never thought she might have asked someone else about him. "She's ours?" He asks, even more shocked. I turn to Peter but he's gone, even though he's still here somewhere. "Peter will you watch her for a little while. Introduce her to Tinkerbell, she loves pixies. And be careful she's never been flying." I yell as soon as they run away. "Why didn't you tell me?" He asks, the minute they're out of earshot. I look towards the ground. "I don't know. How come you never looked for us?" I retort. Now its his turn to be flustered. I look around and say quietly, " I was scared. Scared you wouldn't want her, or me. Scared you'd move on. Scared of rejection." He stops and pulls me close. "I missed you every single day we were apart. I begged my self to go see you, but for some reason I would just cave at the last minute. I know I'm not sappy, but you clearly can do that to people. I'd be more than glad if you and our little girl could be a part of my life again?" He asks, looking at his shoes. I'm shocked, it's not like Felix to apologize like that. I nod quickly and kiss him, with everything I've missed in these past years. "Eww momma." Jane squeals behind me. She runs up and latches onto my leg. "Jane, meet daddy." I smile. "Me and momma misses you." She smiles, hugging him too, pulling us both together. Snap there goes the snap of a camera. I look up to see Peter holding the film he just printed. He quickly hands it to us and smirks, "Hang it on the fridge."
We've decided to stay in Neverland, and visit home frequently. We might allow Jane to age a few more years, just so she's not so clueless all the time. For now everything seems to be perfect just the way we want it. Neverland has never been more peaceful and we have never been more happy. But you know what they say. Never say never.
