//Just in case someone freaks...⚠️trigger warning⚠️ I know you guys are familiar with Offender's character, but I wanted to expand on it just a little more. I think we take him too lightly, y'know? So if Offender makes you personally uncomfortable in any way whatsoever, theeeeen this chapter isn't for you. If you wanna check it out anyway, then I hope you enjoy 😄 I know apologizing for taking so long is pointless, but I'm gonna do it anyway....IM SO SORRY I HAVEN'T BEEN HERE TO POST ANYTHING!!!!!!!! I completely forgot I had other accounts, my bad. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
An hour. It had been an entire hour of tossing and turning and kicking restless limbs around the bed in what ended up being an utterly useless attempt at getting comfortable.
And BEN couldn't stand it for a single moment longer.
When the sheets slid from his legs to crumple into a heap on the floor, he did little to stop them. Wide awake and antsy, he lay there, eyes cast up to the ceiling with his hands folded over his stomach. BEN counted his breaths.
One, two. One.....two. In and out and in again. Slow and deep.
He turned on his side and was met by a darkness so thick, it was a struggle to see his own hand in front of his face. It should've been comforting. It was always comforting. The stillness and the silence of it would've pulled him into sleep.
But it didn't.
BEN couldn't keep himself from tossing all night. Every night, if he were being honest, since the newest houseguests arrived on their doorstep like a pair of lost cats. He couldn't let himself close his eyes without the feeling the chilling graze of icy fingers slowly climbing their way up his legs.
He blinked hard, trying to make out the darker shadows lurking in the corners. They swayed and leaped and reached for him out of the corner of his eye. And when BEN caught himself flinching at them, embarrassment sunk deep in his belly.
He pushed his legs off the bed with a snarl and pulled himself up. It was a stupid idea. Leaving the safety of his room in the middle of the night with Offender lurking around the Mansion was a death sentence. But he was thirsty dammit. And there was a can of strawberry Fanta calling his name.
BEN swiped up the hoodie at his feet. It was one of his favorites. Gifted to him by L.J of all people. The clown stumbled on it after ridding himself of his latest victim, probably belonging to an older sibling or something. And when he came home, L.J presented him with his usual big crooked smile and the hoodie. It was almost two sizes too big and sort of faded now, but it was still a deep forest green with the Triforce emblem on the front of it.
Pulling it over his head, BEN scratched the messy bun in his hair even though the long sleeves slipped over his hands.
It was almost impossible to believe that only three days had passed since Trendor and Offender showed up. And admittedly, Trendor didn't make such a horrible roommate in comparison to his brother. Irritating and judgmental, but then again, so was Jeff.
He still couldn't wrap his head around the fact that (Y/N) was the one to do this to them. He hoped she didn't know about Offender's M/O. If she did, and she still decided to have him around, well, BEN wasn't sure he'd ever forgive her for it.
The hallway stretched on and on. His bare feet sunk into the plushness of the beautiful carpet, a deep scarlet color, like fresh blood. The quiet was heavy out here too. Bedroom doors were locked tight. But BEN knew a false sense of security when he saw one. A locked door wouldn't do shit against a determined Offender.
He paused when he got to the kitchen. There was a light on. The glow was creeping out from under the door. Turning around would be smart.
Going back to bed would be smarter.
