When it came to anti-social in 1st grade, I was your kid. I was afraid and alone. I had to watch my own back from the 3rd and 4th graders who picked on me. I had no team.
Then I met (not their real names, of course) Jack, Ryan and Will. That's when my entire perspective changed for the better.
I finally had a team to get my back when I needed it the most. I was afraid no more. I knew my friends were there for me every step of the way. I was alone no more. Finally, I was able to have an actual conversation at lunch with real people and not the voices in my head! I felt like I was on top of the world.
It was about 2 weeks later when the 4th grader came back. But this time, it was different. He was alone. And he didn't go for me. He went for Jack.
Now, just imagine my position. I was finally free from being lonely, but I had street experience and a protective attitude under my belt from my dad. I had tangled with this 4th grader before, and I wasn't about to let him mess with one of my new friends. So I did the unthinkable of a 1st grader in this situation.
I head butted the 4th grader, and I hit hard. I had backed up to give myself a running start, so when I charged, I hit with the full force of my speed straight in his gut. And the titan fell.
The moment that 4th grader sat up and looked at me, I new I was in trouble. So I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. Sweat dripped from my brow as I weaved through the equipment and other students to escape.
Eventually, the 4th grader caught me. Let's just say that I got what was coming to me.
Moral of the story: be protective of your friends, but to an extent.
