Twilight: A New Beginning

Teardrops

The doors to the hospital swung open suddenly with a crash as the vampire family rushed inside. As soon as they arrived, the staff waisted no time in taking Eddy out of Edward's arms and strapping him to a bed.
Bella felt helpless as she watched them rush him away into another room to be treated for his injuries.

Renesmey looked up at Bella sadly and whispered, "is Eddy going to be okay?"

Bella paused for a moment, but hesitantly smiled and soothed her daughter. "Yes of course everything is going to be fine" she assured her. She felt awful lying to her, truthfully she didn't know.

Bella turned her attention to Edward. "How could you do something like this?!" She yelled angrily, too upset to care if the other people in the hospital heard her

"I'm sorry babe I.." Edward trailed off

"Whatever" Bella hissed and stormed away to the nearest restroom. She locked the door and stood at the sink, staring at herself in the mirror and sighing. She couldn't help but think back to that encounter with the wizard she had earlier that day. Should she...? No.

Bella quickly shook the thought away and growled at herself under her breath, disappointed in herself for even considering it. What was she thinking?

Bella used the toilet and flushed then came out again and went back over to where Edward and Renesmay were waiting. Edward didn't say anything to acknowledge her, just sat there quietly with a somber expression.

Suddenly, a nurse came up to them. "I'm afraid I have some bad news.." she said. "Eddy.. he... he isn't going to make it.. the damage to his skull was too severe"

Bella fell to the floor in shock and heartbreak. She cried out and screamed loudly.

Edward ran with his vampire speed to the room Eddy was being kept in and pushed passed everyone. He grabbed Eddy and picked him up from the bed and held him close. "No.. Eddy.. oh god.. this can't be happening Eddy please stay with me.." he cried. The monitor next to Eddy bed suddenly flatlined. In an instant ..he was gone. Their whole world was shaken in an instant.

The next day, Bella awoke in her bed next to Edward. He was still asleep and she decided not to wake him. She got up to go downstairs to the kitchen, and on her way she noticed a piece of discarded paper laying on the ground. She looked at it curiously and picked it up to investigate what it could be.

The paper read:
"GREAT WIZARD, ZANARYA! PLEASE REACH ME AGAIN! HOLD OUT YOUR HANDS AND PULL ME OUT OF THIS WORLD!"

It was the note that mysterious wizard has left her. The tempting thoughts started creeping back into Bella's mind. If she went though with this, it could all be over. She would be taken away from this horrible situation. This horrible life with a strained relationship and the grief of the loss of her son. But her powers...

Bella shook her head again, but kept looking at the paper note in her hand and wondering. Tears started falling down her cheeks from her eyes, and a teardrop fell onto the paper, smudging the ink in one corner.

"What do I do?" Bella thought desperately
