Zoey covered her mouth before a shriek could pass through her lips. The beast raked his eyes over her, like a hungry animal ready to devour his prey.
Zoey glanced over to Miles for help. He wore a shocked, and almost fearful expression on his face. His lips opened, and closed like a fish, unsure of what to do about this situation.
The beasts now clawed fingers grabbed tightly onto Zoey's arm, pulling her close to him. She could feel his hot breath on her neck.
"You are mine and no one can take up from me."
His voice was incredibly deep, which ran chills down her spine.
Zoey winced in pain as his grip got tighter. The beast's arm snaked around her back, pulling her flush against him. A growl emerged from his lips when she tried to pull away.
"Did you hear that?"
Her eyes widened, as she could hear them coming closer to them.
Miles cursed, and pushed them quickly into one of the unlocked doors. They found themselves in a janitor's closet. The small space pushed Zoey closer to the beast then she thought possible.
Another growl left his lips when she pushed against his chest.
"Keep him quiet," Miles hissed. The irritation of almost being caught was clear on his face.
"What am I supposed to do?" She snapped, lowering her voice mid sentence.
"Figure it out. Your his match."
Zoey groaned. She could heard shuffling outside the door and knew they were close. The beast had heard them too as he let out a snarl.
Unsure of what to do to keep him quiet she latched her arms around his neck, holding him close to her. He let out a satisfied sigh, pulling her unbelievably closer. He nuzzled his nose into the bite mark on her neck. She shivered at the unexpected tingling sensation.
Zoey was ready for the door to fly open as there was no way these men had not heard them. But they never did.
They stood quietly in the room until Miles finally spoke. "Let's move."
Zoey pulled away from the beast intent on following Miles. The beast pulled her arm once again until her ear was next to his lips.
"He may not want you but I do. I will do anything to have you and pretty soon he won't be able to stand in my way."
Zoeys heart hammered in her chest as she watched Jaxson's eyes lose their glow. He blinked a few times, his brows furrowing in confusion.
He looked around the closet and then at the small space between him and Zoey. He left quickly through the door, leaving Zoey behind. He wasn't sure how they had gotten there but he was too afraid to know the answer.
Jaxsons actions, though she hated to admit, pulled on her heart.
She followed them though the building until they finally made it out through a back door. Zoey sighed in relief as the fresh air and moonlight hit her skin.
"We have to run. They have most likely notice you are missing by now."
Jaxson nodded and looked back at Zoey.
"You carry her."
"Me?! She's your match. You carry her."
Zoey rubbed her arm looking awkwardly into the forest.
"I don't need any more reasons for him to come out."
Miles groaned, realizing Jaxson was right. The beast did choose the absolute worst times.
