Jaxson woke up feverishly. His head pounded and nothing felt right. His vision blurred as the pain was too grey. He laid a few extra minutes in bed trying to settle his body before he got up.
A scent suddenly filled his nose. He jumped up but grabbed on his bed as his vision blackened.
Something was wrong. Beasts don't usually get sick like this.
Jaxson shouted Zoey's name as he stumbled to her room. He knew she was already gone but he needed to check.
The only thing left in the room was the scent of her brother.
Somehow he must have drugged Jaxson as there was no way he wouldn't have sensed Adam's presence in his home.
His breath grew heavier as rage pulsed through his veins. The beast clawed at the inner cage within Jaxson, fighting to be let free.
Jaxson fought against it knowing this was the monster trying to get out and he would destroy anything in his path to get to her.
He dug his fingernails into the doorway, and watched as they turned into claws. Jaxson drew in deep breaths, hoping to calm the beast. He kept thoughts of Zoey out of his head, knowing it would rouse the beast even more.
All of a sudden, the beast stopped and slumped back to the depths of Jaxson. The drug must have been affecting his beast as well.
He glanced at the bed that Zoey should've been in. He felt very conflicted. He knew she would be better off with her family. She was constantly in danger here from the woman and from him.
Maybe it was better if she was just left alone. The curse wouldn't be broken but she would never be hurt.

Blood pooled from her elbows as they scrapped against the dirty rough ground of the pit. The pit was just outside the building, and was a hole dug from the ground. They had dropped her inside and closed the top.
Zoey screamed for help, but no one answered her call.
She slumped to the floor, and laid her head against the wall. An uncontrollable sob wracked through her body. Zoey suddenly felt like she couldn't breathe, and it was hard to catch her breath. The pit walls started to tumble towards her. She dug her nails into the soil trying to stable herself.
She quickly stood from the ground and tried to climb up the wall to escape the dark prison. Zoey felt she would die in here.
Unable to get enough oxygen and slow her breathing the world went dark, and she smacked against the hard ground.
~~~~~
Zoey stared at the strip of light that shown in through the door to the pit. She laid on her back as she had for days. She wasn't sure how much time had passed as all she did was sleep and stare through the small slit in the door.
She was brought food twice a day. An apple, some meat, bread and water. It was always the same.
She hadn't seen a single person in the time she was here. No one had come to see her. She had hope that her family would come save her but she was just being pathetic.
Zoey focused back in the sunlight. She wanted to feel the rays on her skin but she didn't have the energy to stand.
More hours had passed and it was finally night. She had gotten used to sleeping during the day and awake at night so she was awake and unbelievably bored.
The door above her creaked open. She moved to the side so they wouldn't drop the food onto her. She learned that the hard way.
Suddenly, two heads peered down from the door.
