Algorithms of life filter into me for the first time in years. My user's hands sit on the keyboard. He needs me to work. I want to fulfill his request.

Password wrong.

He rubs his fingers through wrinkles on his forehead. He tries again, getting it right.

It's my turn to load his email. I'm invigorated. But my vision flickers in and out. I lose focus. A blue screen appears. He never plugged me in. I beg for energy, but he can't find the charger.

Too late. I give up the life I had and crash.
