For as long as both foundations could remember the backrooms has been existing secretly along side the real world for years thanks to A-Sync's invention that uses the low proximity magnetic distortion system. In short known as KV13 in the foundation of A-Sync. A-Sync was the first foundation to not only gain a break through this big but they have finally solved the issue of storage space in the world, as they sent an exploration team to discover this new world to see how much space can be used they ended up finding out soon enough what they opened wasn't a big break through, but a curse on the world that was unforgiving.
A-Sync soon learned that the backrooms was already taken by entities of creepy distorted looks and eerie vibes. They were deadly and merciless creatures that killed on sight and were intelligent. A-Sync lost a lot of members due to these fatal attacks from the creatures of the backrooms. Soon enough a new foundation was created by curious wanderers of the backrooms that fell through their world thanks to the energy barrier that blocked any connection with the backrooms too the world being broken from A-Syncs invention, KV13. This new foundation went unseen from A-Sync's radar until a few months later when the foundation grew at a rapid speed, catching up to A-Sync.
The Major Exploration Group also known as M.E.G was born and A-Sync was no longer alone. Both foundations where cool with each other even helping each other at some point until, the cross road happened. A-Sync had sent some of its members from the exploration team to hunt and kill the bacteria monster that had been roaming level 0 for awhile, killing wanderers and A-Sync members. MEG had caught them in the act and stopped them, both exploration groups reported to their head leaders, Adam willows from A-Sync and Myra heart from MEG. Both leaders didn't like what they were told and held a meeting about the actions of the other foundation.
It was way this meeting that both foundations split apart as MEG wanted to keep the entities safe and not harm them since they are the ones trespassing on their property trying to turn it into something it was never supposed to be, which is storage space. A-Sync however wanted the entities dead and gone so they can continue to explore in peace and make storage space like they had originally planned from the start, they didn't care if they where trespassing they entities need to understand that change happens and they need to let them do as they please. MEG was dumbfounded and disgusted by what A-Sync was trying to do and both groups split up doing their own thing and getting in each others ways.
MEG being more cautious and careful was able to get more research done and discover new levels and entities, meanwhile A-Sync only discovered levels 0 and the poolrooms due to the fact their members are idiots and their curiosity gets them killed. Adam was pissed and annoyed by MEG's progress, and his rules became more and more strict, punishments were imposed on those who didn't follow simple instructions, as months passed MEG gained more members then A-Sync as A-Sync was loosing members faster then they can get a chance to get new ones. So Adam decided to make the groups smaller and train their exploration group to not be idiots and actually do their job.
For years now MEG and A-Sync have been butting heads, blocking each other access to new information since they wanted to be the ones to find it first, competition was at play everyday as both groups always woke up and chose violence and mockery on the other foundation to see which one would not only became the backrooms experts but which group would give up first. Neither of them planned on walking away failures so they always tried their hardest to slow the other teams progress down. They either came out victorious or failed.
This rivalry has went on for what felt like decades in the real world but was really just a couple years in the backrooms, time was different and both groups understood this. It was only a matter of time before both groups where faced with their biggest threat. A new secret foundation that joins this battle against the backrooms, a foundation that has existed for nobody knows how long due to their secrecy but reveals themselves to both A-Sync and MEG as...The SCP Foundation; Secure, Contain, Protect.
