Saturday 5th February 2023

My phone flashed.

11:58am.

Two minutes until my transfer would officially be announced to the world. Of course i was excited, but if anything, i was guilty. The dedicated fans that had grew to love and support me, the club itself and my former teammates; I would be leaving them all behind with no explanation. Guilt ran throughout me, leaving a bottomless pit in my stomach. I loved Aston Villa with all my heart, but i wasn't developing, and i know this move was beneficial for me, and for the team.

When i first found out that someone had put an offer in for me, i was surprised. I had never had the greatest amount of game time, who would want a bench warmer? Well, apparently Arsenal. I chuckled to myself at the thought. Aston Villa was starting to gain some big names on their squad, meaning i was more unnecessary than before. Clearly Arsenal had seen more in me though, and i was so incredibly grateful - i knew this would be a massive opportunity, and absolutely pivotal for my career. There was huge names on that team, people who i had previously admired for their courage and resilience, and now i would be playing alongside them?

My phone flashed again.

11:59pm.

One minute closer.

When the girls at Aston Villa found out i was leaving, they were a little disappointed. Although my game time was low, i did make a difference when i played, but the way i played was different to them. Maybes this was for the better.

I look around at my surroundings, my eyes slowly inspecting each piece of furniture in sight, trying to find anything to take my mind off of the announcement. I was staying in a hotel which was a ten minutes drive away from the Arsenal training grounds, making it easy to travel in an unfamiliar place. This was only temporary, i need to start to arrange to buy an apartment now that this was official and i had passed my medical.

A couple of days ago i had traveled the 2 hours down from Birmingham, it felt like forever but i eventually got here. To think of it, i had been here for three days and had completed so much. I had completed my medical and officially signed for the team. Who knew how three days could change your life so quickly. Three days. The last three days all came down to now. How would the fans react? How would the team react? It was all so overwhelming, but it felt right.

My phone lit up once again, but this time with a notification. I looked at the time: 12:00pm. It was official.
