Flames of Passion: tales of Kai Scott and Emerson Dessert

Chapter three

Emerson couldn't sleep. He tossed and turned aesthetically in his top bunk, staring at the roof glow stars he brought with him. "Kai" he whispered. "Kai, are you awake?" Nothing. Emerson sighed and closed his eyes, and now he fell asleep.

Emerson opened his eyes to see kai standing by his bunk. "Kai?" He muttered, tired. "Shh..." Said kai. He smiled as Emerson blushed. "Come with me." Kai said with a smirk. Emerson hopped out of bed without hesitation.

Kai led him to a small heart of flowers in the woods. "Wow, it's beautiful here!" Said Emerson. "I thought we could watch the sunrise here..." said kai. "Oh..." Emerson tried to cover his blushing with his hand, but Kai pushed it away. Their eyes met for a moment Emerson wished would last forever. Kai closed his eyes, puckered his lips and...

"Up and at them, dessert." Screamed petey at Emerson. Emerson opened his eyes to see the real world. "Darn it..." he muttered.

Everyone in the cabin got themselves ready, ate breakfast, and headed down to rock climbing. There were three identical structures to climb. The head counselor came on the microphone.

"Hey there, hi there, howdy hello campers! Welcome to camp bajoonga! I'm your head counselor, Ms. Still! Today you'll all be rock climbing, and we're gonna make it a race! I'll demonstrate." Ms still went on to hook herself to the rope and attempted to clump up the structure on the left. Unfortunately, she made it a foot off and it came toppling down. "Maybe next time let's test them first." She shouted, then walked away. "Uhm... ok. Let's get started. Everyone grab a helmet!" Said counselor Christ.

Emerson and Kai were in line for the rock climbing. They made sure to go in separate lines with the same amount of people in front of them so they could go together. Layne was in front of Kai, and Snake was in front of Emerson. By the time they got up to one person ahead of them, they were almost out of time. "Uhmm... ok. Here's what we're gonna do." Said counselor dupenguin. "Layne and Snake, you two go together on the left one. Emerson and Kai, you on the right. You'll just race in teams."

Emerson felt a lump in his throat. How could he focus on the race when Kai was so... distracting? But alas, he had to win. For Kai.

"3..2..1.. go!!!" Said dupenguin over the microphone. All four jumped up and started to climb. Layne and snake were throwing each other up the structure, and they were likely to win. Emerson and Kai were trying to work together, but it just wasn't working! Until...

Kai started to slip! "Emerson, help me!" He shouted. Emerson  dove over, grabbed his hand, and pulled him up. But he pulled him up too close, so their faces were almost touching! Emerson and Kai stared into each others eyes, until emerson snapped out of it. "Come on... we've got to get to the top." "Yeah, you're ri-" just then, a bell dinged.! Snake and Layne had made it to the top! "Congrats girls!" Shouted dupenguin. They high-fived and climbed down. "Oh well." Said kai. "That was bound to happen." "Yeah, they're just better than us!" Said Emerson.

(What, you didn't think Emerson and Kai were going to beat Snake and Layne did you? They're the ultimate power couple! No way.)
