-Clara's Poing of View-
Work flow at Starbucks always seemed to stay the same these last few weeks.
Carter would do or say something just to irk Mark and she’d find amusement by it, for some unknown reason.
She had been written up at least 6 times by now and manages to break at least one rule everyday.
The worst was when some obnoxious customer would come everyday and order the most cream filled drink that probably once gave someone a heart attack due to its sugar levels, everyday.
Carter was sick of the old ladies attitude towards us, just because we were "teenagers”, so she blew up.
It started with the lady saying that they should never hire teenagers like us again. Carter stated something that went a little like this: "Listen fat ass, you've ordered the same carb filled drink for the past two weeks and I'm in incredible shock that your muffin top isn't suffocating you yet. Keep up the good work, bitch." and slammed the coffee down on the counter causing whipped cream to splash on the ladies face.
Carter turned to run into the back room but completely hit Mark square in the chest. "You've got to be kidding me.." She said under her breath. Let's just say, Carter got a very stern talking to and a temporary suspension to think over her "anger management" issues.
Many faces became familiar. The early morning goers, the mid-afternoon coffee runners, and then, the late night ones, which usually only consisted of 3 familiar faces.
Riley, Connor and Toby.
After a while, we learned more about these boys.
They are brothers and live in the area. To be exact they lived one block away from mine and Carter’s apartment. Long story short, Carter ditched her house after her mother passed away and her dad fell into depression and found comfort in alcohol; which I won’t go into detail about. The subject is touchy to Carter.
Toby is 15, and possibly the cutest 15 year old I have ever seen. Like he’s actually attractive. He looks like a mix between Connor and Riley. His thin brown hair always falls perfectly and his chocolate eyes always seem to match the coffee he orders. Riley, who was the tallest, and had the darkest of the features always wore an enormous smile on his face. I can bet you 98 out of 100 times he is smiling. His dark brunette hair always seemed to be in all the right places and the darkness to his eyes always had a light quality. Connor, who was unlike the other two brothers, was so much different. His silky blonde hair that looked like it was as soft as a cloud was always swept to the side and serenely combed and neat. His eyes shone magnificently blue, contrasting against his pale skin flawlessly, making him look so perfect. I felt my cheeks flush as I thought of him, I didn’t like him, I just thought he was one of the most beautiful boys I would ever lay my eyes on. Plus, I've always been a sucker for blue eyes... If Jordan knew I thought of another boy this way I don’t think I’d wake up to see tomorrow.
He hit me again last night. I accidentally fell asleep while talking to him on the phone and I awoke three hours later to him flinging my bedroom door open.
I quietly begged him to be quiet so Carter wouldn’t wake up. He ignored my pleas and raced towards me, punching me in the stomach, gut and chest endlessly. It actually knocked me out cold. In the morning I found bruises from his attack, and my neck was swollen black and blue. He must have choked me and that’s why I passed out. Drinking water hurt so badly so I was forced to skip another meal. I haven’t eaten in four days now. No one needed to know though. I was fine.
Carter's first day back was today. I felt relieved. While she was away I worked with this extremely creeping girl by the name of Erica, who always went off about this band called “Before You Exist” or something like that, and how they supposedly come here all the time, but she never sees them. I promptly told her that she’d meet them one day, but rolled my eyes while looking away. She’d never meet them.
