Prologue : Melony's nightmare

[Takes place the night before "To Become A God"]

Location: Axol's Apartment

Nighttime. The time where the craziness of this meme-filled world hits a momentary low as peace fills and the people drift off into their sleep. Here, we focus on an apartment found in New Donk City in the Mushroom Kingdom. Here lived Axol, a manga artist that was getting back into the swing of things, and Melony, his girlfriend. Their relationship is too sweet for words.

You see, roughly 4 weeks ago, Axol was working on a way to confess his true feelings to Melony when his friends, SMG4 and Mario, had alerted him about a surplus of Shreks in the area. The Shreks then abducted Mario, which caused Axol and SMG4 to run after him. This chase led them to the forest where an otherworldly virus meant to grab Mario and corrupt his soul to the point where it was beyond salvation. However, it grabbed Axol instead. From there, the virus, Zero, took over Axol's body and imprisoned the real Axol within his own mind. Zero then used Axol's body to fulfill its goal of destroying this universe to make its own. All the real Axol could do was watch as this malevolent force used his body to hurt his friends. Luckily, he was stopped by none other than the artist's friends and his crush. Melony then went inside the corrupted Axol to save the real Axol. She successfully sliced away the red cords that tethered Axol to the virus and like that, he was set free. Once they dealt one last blow to Zero and got back to their friends, Melony then told him that she returned Axol's feelings and they then shared a tender kiss. Then, one quick 4-day hospital stay, Axol was feeling better and was ready to face the world once more. This time, with Melony by his side.

Transition back to the now, it was about 10pm, and Axol was getting ready to go to bed. Melony, however, wasn't. She was practicing her drawing skills, but she was still trying to get something right.

Axol : Uh, Melony, you coming to bed ?

Melony : In a bit. I'm trying to figure out how to shade objects.

Axol : Oh, right. Don't you want to just work on that tomorrow ?

Melony : No, I feel if I do that, it'll just haunt me for the rest of the night.

Axol : Ok. Well, I'm headed to bed. The couch is made for you, and try to not overwork yourself.

Melony : I won't, thanks.

As Axol left for his bed, Melony then went to the couch, notebook and pencil in hand.

Melony : Ok, Melony. You saved your boyfriend from an evil demon virus. You can do this. I won't rest until I can figure out shading.

10 minutes later, she was out like a light. She got some drawing done, but her tiredness along with the comfiness of the couch got to her and she conked out. Now, she was having a wonderful dream. But little did she know, her enjoyable dream would soon turn into a disturbing nightmare.

The dream started out simple enough. It was just her reliving a pleasant memory. Now, she had many pleasant memories, most of which were from before she had the Deity mask put on, such as meeting Obama, going to space, or even her preschool days. But this time, she was reliving a more recent memory. The day of the barbecue. Although the setting up was very chaotic, the turnout was very nice. The spread was great, and everyone was having a good time, especially Axol who was just let out of the hospital at the time. SMG4 then tapped a spoon against his glass to make a speech.
