Monster (Marceline x Marshall Lee)

Chapter 5

*Marceline's POV*

I get to the Candy Kingdom and walk inside. Bubblegum and Gumball are inside discussing a new invention or whatever. They don't even notice my presence. They continue to talk and flirt as I wait for one of them to see me. After about five minutes, I decide I can't handle living near that for even an hour so I leave.

I have no idea where I'm gonna go. I just walk around for a little while hoping to find somewhere. Suddenly, it starts raining. Rain wouldn't usually bother me if I actually had a change of clothes. I start to think of Marshall Lee. What was wrong with him earlier? Surely he wasn't jealous... He wouldn't be. He couldn't be! Right?

*Marshall Lee's POV*

I can't believe she saw me cry. She must think I'm some kind of a wimp. I just lie on the couch hugging my pillow and listen to the rain. Rain helps me think. I have to get over her. She hates me, and as I can see now, she loves Finn. I guess that's good. As long as she's happy. I swear if he ever hurts her I'll...

Something outside my window stops my thoughts. Is that...? No it couldn't be... I rub my eyes and look again. It is. Marceline is outside just walking in the rain. I try to fight the urge to go to her, but I just can't.

I go outside and walk closer to her. "Marceline...?" I say, "You okay? Why are you out here in the rain?" At first she just looks at me like she doesn't know me. Then she comes closer and I can tell she's angry with me.

"What do you care?" She replies.

"I'm worried about you..."

"Yeah. Sure."

She has every right to be this way. I acted like such a jerk to her. After a few moments of silence she says, "You know, I was worried about you earlier and you just left. So why shouldn't I do the same?"

"Because you're out in the rain all alone, and I doubt it's by choice." I say.

"You were alone too! And you seemed so distressed! I just wanted to help!" She's getting really angry.

"Yeah I was! Why are you even here anyway?! Couldn't you be inside with your little boyfriend, making out with him as much as you want?!"

"Boyfriend?!" She yells back. "You think Finn is my boyfriend?!"

"Well you did kiss him right there in front of me!"

"So what do I have to get your permission before kissing someone now?!"

I have to think of something before I tell her how I really feel about her. "No, of course not! I just don't see why you're here all by yourself if you've got him!"

"Look, I don't have to explain myself to you. Why'd you even come out here if all you're going to do is yell at me?" She says.

"I don't have to explain myself to you either. Go away." I say to her as I walk back towards my cave. I can't believe I just said that. I can't leave her out here. I turn back around and see her leaving.

"Marceline..." I say, following her.

"What is it now?" She says, not turning around.

"I'm sorry... I didn't mean that. I've been a jerk to you lately. I'm really sorry, Marceline. Please come inside. I won't leave you out here alone." I put my hand on her shoulder.

"Then I guess you'll just be standing out in the rain too." She stubbornly replies.

"Marceline... Come inside. I know I've been a jerk, and I understand you not wanting to be anywhere near me, but, you need somewhere to stay. Please."

For a few minutes she just stands there. Finally, she turns around and says, "Fine. Just for tonight. I'm leaving first thing in the morning whether it's raining or not."

"C'mon. I'll get you some warm clothes." I put my arm around her and take her inside.
