Chapter 23: Ready to fight

Tay was waiting in his car for New, in the street next to theirs. He'd been waiting for 20 mins now but he understands New getting off from his work and their mansion takes time. In the rear view mirror he saw New approaching with his small luggage. He opened the backseat and dropped his luggage before taking the passenger seat beside Tay.

New: "Phew... I am sorry you had to wait. P'Off was leaving at the same time so I had to wait till he left and gave some instructions to the staff before leaving."

Tay: "Hin... breathe first."

New gulped half bottle of water and finally calmed down.

New: "Why you haven't started driving? Are you waiting for god's sign to start the trip?"

Tay just smiled at him without replying.

New: "What are you looking at? Is there something wrong with my face?"

Tay beckoned him to closer. New also leaned forward thinking Tay was helping him. Instead, Tay gave a soft peck on his lips.

Tay: "Happy anniversary hin."

New smiled in reply. Today was their seventh anniversary and Tay planned this trip for them this year. He almost forgot with all the chaos going in the mansion and the nervousness to sneak out. He was so busy, he even forgot to wish Tay.

New: "I am sorry."

Tay: "It's fine."

New beckoned him to come closer and kissed him fully on the lips.

New: "Happy anniversary love."

Tay: "So shall we start?"

New: "Yeah, let's go and enjoy!!"

Tay started driving towards their destination. To be honest, this was not their first road trip but every road trip was special to them. They had to plan in secret, book in advance, sneak out without causing any doubt, come up with reasonable excuse. But all the thrill was worth it.

Tay was watching New tasting his cake by the roadside shop. It's been three hours so they stopped there to take a break and change their places. After a small walk around the area which had many hotels, cafes, small convenience stores which sells traveller's essentials, small mechanic garages, New stopped infront of a bakery.
He entered without waiting for Tay and now they were inside a comfy bakery with few slices of different cakes infront of them.

New: "What are you staring at?"

Tay: "It's been only three hours and we didn't do anything. How come you are this hungry?"

New: "I am not hungry, I am just recharging my sugar levels."

Tay: "Still is it really necessary to get these many? It's around lunch time. If you eat all these now, then you will not eat lunch."

New: "Who needs food when I can survive on cakes?"

Tay: "Haha.. very funny."

Tay called the waiter and asked to pack the cakes except the one New was eating.

New: "Hey! I want to eat!"

Tay: "You will eat remaining cakes after our lunch."

New groaned loudly and stabbed the cake he had. Tay just ignored his death glare and ate like nothing happened. After getting their takeout they headed back to their car and this time New will be driving.
