Chapter 31: Mother

New's mom, Tara, was anxiously waiting for everyone to return. She knew something was Off when Off, Singto, Tay and New left at late afternoon. It was almost dinner time but still they haven't return.

To her relief, she heard the cars pulling over the driveway and everyone came at same time. She noticed something was different, everyone were having their radiant smiles.

Tara: "Dinner is ready everyone."

Neo: "Thank you aunty, we are starving!"

Earth: "How come you are still hungry? You ate almost everything in the cafe."

Neo: "I am a growing kid, so I need to eat a lot. Am I right aunty?"

Tara: "You're right, infact all of you should eat more."

Off: "If we ate anymore we will become like christmas ball aunty."

Tay: "Yeah, like how New was when he was five."

New: "I am a healthy kid mind you."

Singto: "Enough bickering, let's eat."

Everyone headed to the dinner table and the dinner was noisy as usual. They all looked carefree which made Tara happy too.

Off: "Aunty we are having important guests for lunch tomorrow."

Tara: "Don't worry Off, I will get it done."

New: "I'll help you with that mom."

Tara: "May I ask who are they?"

Off: "Our boyfriends."

Tara was taken aback. She guessed everyone were in relationship but Off accepting them was something she didn't expect. She was happy for them.

Tara: "Then I will make it special."

Neo: "Your food is always special aunty."

Singto: "You don't have to butter up for second serving you know right?"

Neo: "See aunty they are always teasing me!"

She just chuckled and let them have their conversation. After dinner everyone headed to their rooms. New was helping his mom to clean the dishes and clearing up the table when someone sneaked up behind him.

Tay: "Hin..."

New: "What the fuck Tay! How many times I told you to not sneak up like this?"

Tay: "It's always fun to see your reaction."

New: "It's all fun and games until one day I am going to stab you."

Tay: "Are you psycho? Who stabs as a reflex?"

New: "What are you here for? I am sure you are not here to bug me."

Tay: "Right... where is your mom?"

New: "She already went to our quarters, she looked tired."

Tay: "Ohh..."

New: "Why are you searching for her?"

Tay: "We should come clean to your mom too."

New felt like an idiot for forgetting such important thing.

New: "Wait for me, I'll finish up in 15 minutes."

Tay: "I can wait for a lifetime."

New: "Tone that down and come up with a way to impress my mother. There is still a chance for you to get red signal from her."

That did silenced Tay for a while till he completed his works. When he came back Tay was not there.

He came to living room, still no trace of Tay. So he decided to call him but found Tay descending the stairs.
