Everyday he looked at her medallion as it swayed on the branch if the tree in the mess hall. The piece of medal that reminded Geralt of his worst memory. The moment he was told that Toivoa of Hindarsfjall had died. The light of his life was gone.

The strange thing was that her body was never found. The only things left behind was her medallion from the School of the Crane, her swords, and her horse, Särki.

When Geralt came into the village he and Toivoa were staying in for the night, one of the villagers approached him with her horse. He instantly started to think the worst. He tried not to let his panic show as he ask, "Where is she?"

The villager told him that she had taken a job that he told to her about. A Wyvern had been sighted on the outskirts of the village. She simply nodded and road off into the direction the villager pointed.

The villager, who Geralt learned was named Estral, waited for Toivoa to return so he could pay her, but she never came. Estral had waited and was about to go inside the tavern when he heard the whiny of a horse behind him. He turn around and saw the witcher's horse but no witcher mounted on it. The only things on the mare were a silver sword, a steel sword, and a medallion.

Geralt said nothing after Estral finished the story. He only took Särki's reigns and road towards the inn.

A Wyvern couldn't possibly kill Toivoa he thought as he headed to the room he was given. Geralt had seen her take down three Leshys by herself.

Geralt blamed himself for her supposed death. He had been right beside her until he stopped to give Roach water. He told her to go ahead to the village without him. I should have been with her he thought every time.

Ever since then, Geralt heard whispers in everything. He heard it in the wind, in the water, and even in his dreams. It was Toivoa's voice saying, "Find me...come to the garden."

Whispers were generally never a good thing to hear in a magical world.

A/N: There's a surprise for anyone who wants to translate Toivoa's horse's name. It's in Finnish.
