The higher you built the walls around your heart, the harder you fall when someone breaks them down.

When Anirudh returned home, he spotted everyone on the sofa waiting expectantly. He can notice their uncertainty since they didn't find bondita with him. Even though Som was aware of the circumstances, he stayed mute and only glanced sympathetically at Anirudh. "Anirudh, why are you alone? Where is Bahu?" When Trilochan asked, anirudh responded faintly "Bondita is at Krishna nagar kaka."

"What? But why? I assumed she was on her way here."

"She was, indeed. But, once again, she put her ego and rage ahead of me. Well, i can't blame her for that. Meri bondita hai na. hogi to meri hi jaisi." he added in a worn-out voice.

What he said, shocked him a little bit but yet he asked, "How come you didn't stop her? You may have convinced her, anirudh." In answer to Trilochan's enraged inquiry, Anirudh raised his voice slightly. "How kaka? For once, that girl isn't even interested in hearing what I have to say. And you know what, when she came, she had no intentions to meet me. She had already planned to go there without telling me."

Trilochan was surprised by what anirudh said since he hadn't expected this from Bondita. "I never imagined Bahu acting in this manner. Has she forgotten what you did for her? To save her, you once barely escaped death. How quickly did she forget that?"

"Kaka, I didn't want her to recall that either. I didn't want Bondita to remember anything I did for her. The thing that bothers me the most is that she believes everything I did for her was purely for Society's benefit and not because I admired her. I wasn't aware of my feelings for her, but you were, weren't you? You were aware how much I admired her, loved her, and still adore her? Guess what, she didn't notice. Younger bondita used to get me even when I didn't say anything. And now when I'm ready to declare it to the entire world, she still refuses to listen to me." Anirudh replies bitterly, drawing sympathetic looks from everyone.

"Do you want me to talk to her? She wouldn't say no to me."

"No way kaka. I don't want any of you to get involved in this. I'll handle it myself," he says as he walks towards his study, loosening his tie. "But when anirudh? Don't you both understand how much time you've spent over the years? Now I'm wondering if I'll ever see my grandchildren."

"The only thing you're worried about is a grandchildren? Pehle bachho ki ma ko to ghar laane digiye. Bachhe to aate hi rahenge." Anirudh said, frowning. "And do you anyways believe I'll have kids till I'm ready to share her affection with someone other than myself? And don't be concerned, kaka; you're not that old. You'll see them in 6-7 years."

Trilochan's eyes widened slightly as som struggled to cover up his laugh. "Besharam. Apne kaka se aisi baate karta hai?"

"Aisi baate?.....Matalab or kis kis tarike se batau aapko kaka ke mujhe abhi bachhe chaiye hi nhi?" He shut the door behind him as he entered the study. "Hume laga tha tum teeno me se koi to humaare sanskaaro ke saath jeena seekhega," Trilochan said, glaring at Som. "Yaha to teno ke teeno hi naalayak nikle," he says as he walks out of the hall, stomping his cane. Som too walks back to his room, softly shaking his head.

Bondita's face flashed before Anirudh's eyes as he exhaustedly fell down on the sofa and closed his eyes, and he was immediately wide awake again. He opened his eyes to find anirudh seated on the sofa's armrest.

"It's too late, Anirudh. There is no use in arguing at this point. So let's just talk about it tomorrow, shall we?" he muttered, signing loudly and closed his eyes once again.
