Luigi had waited anxiously all day for the return of his message that he had sent out the night before, not because he was curious as to what Peach had to say, but because he desperately needed a reason to talk to Bowser.

How was he supposed to spy on him when he didn't even have a reason to pretend to need him? He had many times thought of the idea of simply just talking to Bowser, and yes, that might even be better for him getting closer to Bowser, but he found reasons to shoot it down.

"He'd think of me an obnoxious weirdo who's taking up his time!", To "what would I even talk about, anyways?", And always came back to relying on Peach to send back news or a message atleast, to be fair he didn't even know what she would say.

And it all came down to just that, he saw the pigeon flying back into his window, he hurried to collect the letter on its leg, unwrapping it quickly it read,
"okay :). -Princess Peach.".

And it all simply came down to Luigi settling with just trying to make small talk with Bowser.

Luigi wondered, defeated, throughout the castle to where he would assume Bowser was, this is why I should never rely on Peach he thought to himself, is Bowser even the kind of guy to make small talk? He thought back to seeing Bowser spit lava all over the enemy Soldier and grew very scared.

And he had made it, he stood before the closed door for a while, what felt like hours and could very well be, as he lifted his hand to knock on the door his heart began to race, he started thinking about it too much, finally, finding the courage his hand was just about to hit the wood when it swung open.

He hurried out of the way to see one of the Generals of the West Army talking to Bowser, "thank you for making this time for me, King Bowser.", She said, he nodded politely and she walked away.

Bowser looked down to the side at Luigi, "did you also need something?", He asked, Luigi looking up into Bowser's eyes waited a moment, trying to gather words before simply nodding quickly.

Bowser stepped out of the way of the door and Luigi walked in quickly, "so, what was it?", Asked Bowser.

Luigi who was caught up in thought prayed that Bowser would leave the door open so he could run out like the coward he was, but he heard the click of the metal bar latching and lost all hope, he couldn't bring himself to look at Bowser, so looking anywhere but Bowser he said, "um, this may be unusual, but I've just.. I don't know, come to talk?", He tried to be as nonchalant as possible.

"Very well, about what?", Bowser replied.

"Well, I figured what with the stress of this sudden war, you might want a shoulder to lean on.".

Bowser looked a little confused, and perhaps the first time in all their interactions, looked somewhere other than directly into Luigi's eyes, "I don't think I'd know where to start.", Bowser admitted,  I don't really talk much, do I... Now that I'm thinking about it.

Bowser grew a little worried, it's been practically years since he's spoken to anyone about anything personal, and then he thought of Jr., Did he ever find himself talking to Jr.?

"I'm sorry if I'm imposing-", Luigi hurried to say after noticing Bowser's sudden lack of eye contact, he looked less and less scary by the second, and Luigi, forgetting he was terrified, got closer, "I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to bother you, I just thought--", he stopped again, what did he think, he couldn't have asked something a spy would ask?

He'd seen a bunch of Spy films back in Brooklyn, comparing himself to them he was worried again that he wasn't cut out for this, especially since he felt genuine empathy for Bowser.

"No, you're fine, it was an insignificant thing to get worked up about.", Bowser replied.

"If it means that much it's probably not insignificant, what was it anyways?".

"Well.. do you often talk to people, Luigi?", Bowser asked.

Luigi thought for a moment, then answered, "no, but it's a good day to start.".

"Well, alright then, how would this conversation usually go? How are you?".

"Uh, fine, thank you, and you?".

"Also fine, I suppose.".

"Great weather we've been having!".

"You could say so.".

"Do you have a favourite type of weather?", Luigi asked.

Bowser thought for a moment, "I'm fond of Sunny weather, do you?".

"I don't like it when it's cold.".

"Do you have a favourite colour?".

"Probably green.".

"I couldn't tell.", Then they both laughed a little.

"I guess that was nice!", Luigi admitted, thinking aloud.

"It was, thank you for talking with me, I have business to attend to however.", Bowser said as he opened the door again, Luigi nodded and left, Bowser did too.

Bowser headed toward the meeting room, he was met with the General from earlier and a few others, they bowed.

"I think we've played defense long enough, and we can't hold out any longer, I say we should send in an invasion on their boarder city over here.", One of them suggested as they pointed to a spot on the large map laid across the round table.

"That's a good idea, but they're probably expecting it, since we have access to the Mushroom Kingdom--", another was interrupted.

"If they're expecting anything, it's for us to go through the mushroom kingdom!".

"No! Because the Mushroom Kingdom is remaining neutral, they'll be arrogant and assume because of an older Peace agreement that the Mushroom Kingdom wouldn't assist in that way!".

"Their recent attack on the Air ships could have only been executed had they gone through the Mushroom Kingdom!".

"That was before the war, you dimwit!".

"I say we take advantage of the Mushroom Kingdom before it's too late and they choose their side, going through the Mushroom Kingdom without their knowledge gives us an advantage until our attack!".

"This is a difficult idea, attacking both Kingdoms at once, I think it's better to remain Peace with the Mushroom Kingdom as long as possible so we can follow through with the original plan!".

"Well we have to act fast before they deliver an attack we can't get back up from, we've waited too long!".
