I woke up to a crack of thunder. I felt a weight across my back and realized it was Jeff's arm. He was still out like a light. I looked at the clock on the night stand, 5:00. It was too early. I tried to go back to sleep for ten minutes, but as the seconds ticked by I just became restless. I slipped out from under Jeff's arm and tip toed into the hall. I crept to the family room and turned a lamp on, and then the TV. I walked to pick up the quilt that was strewn across the kitchen floor and lay it across myself on the couch. I let my eyes close until they snapped open at the sound of my name being called from the TV screen.

My picture was flashing across the screen and the headline read "Lucy Fields Reported Missing From West Brook January Second". There was an 800 number to call if anyone knew anything about my disappearance. I sighed. I couldn't even begin to find my way home from where ever I was. I'm terrible with directions. The thunder and lightning subsided and I decided to go sit outside. It was still pitch black and raining, but this was the weather I liked best. To my delight there was a bench on the porch. I walked around to the front of it and just before I was about to sit I noticed a black bag was set on it. I quickly opened the front pouch and retrieved my phone. I hit the unlock button and my screen flashed to life. Yes! This was it! They would come find me. My battery level read 1% and I prayed that was enough to call 911. I punched in the 3 numbers and the call button.

It rang once... Twice... Then I heard Frost Cou-. And my phone shut off.

No sooner had my phone shut of then it was taken out of my shaking hand.
