-4 YEARS LATER...-

Kokoro is now 5 years old, and she's still as emotionless as ever, occasionally flashing a quick fake smile or grin, her parents have accepted this as part of her personality.  While she doesn't express any emotions, her parents know that she loves them deep down.  Kokoro's father has started to teach her how to read, and Kokoro is learning quickly.  She is able to understand complex concepts and ideas at a young age.  She is an intelligent, articulate young girl, but she doesn't express emotions.
Her parent's have gotten used to her stoic nature, and they love her just the same.

One day, she was brought to a theatre, a place that her father promised would be "full of wonder".

"Papa, mama... What even *is* a theatre?"

She asks, in the back of the car, inside her car-seat.

"A theater is a place where people go to see performances, such as plays or shows,"

Kokoro's mother explains.

"Most theaters have a stage where the action takes place, and there are seats for the audience to sit and watch the show."

Kokoro looks at her mother curiously, her eyes wide and unmoving.

"So what kinds of shows are in this theater?" she asks.

"You'll have to see when we get there!"

Kokoro's mother answers cheerfully, her voice full of excitement and anticipation.

"Oh, ok mama."

Kokoro answers, her voice unmoving.

Once they get there, Kokoro looks up, seeing the poster for the play they were about to watch. The title was along the lines of "Reach for the stars".

"Reach for the.. stars..."

She read it out loud, as he parents walk along with her to their seats.

"Ohh, just you wait, my Kokoro! This'll blow your tiny little mind!"

Kokoro's mother cheers, smiling warmly.

"..Hm."

She looks up, as the play begins.

It was amazing, whimsical and magical even... The performances, the acting... It struck Kokoro a lot. Seeing people fake emotions so well, and make them seem real..  It fascinated Kokoro.

Kokoro watches intently as the actors perform, their expressions full of emotion and passion.  It's as if they could actually *feel* what they were portraying.  She feels the magic that is happening on stage, and is enthralled by the performance.  It makes her wonder what it would be like to feel emotions the way other people do -- and whether if it would be possible for her to learn this skill.

As the play concludes, Kokoro is left with a feeling of wonder and amazement.  She has never seen anything like this before, and it leaves her speechless and breathless.
