In the wake of Kanae's passing, the atmosphere at the Butterfly Estate was heavy and somber. It wasn't giving the usual, cheerful vibes like it used to.
As Giyuu and Sabito entered the Butterfly Estate, they were met with a scene of grief and sadness. All the pillars had gathered there, their faces reflecting the pain they felt at losing Kanae.
Himejima Gyomei, the Stone Pillar, expressed a “rest-in-peace” face, chanting some prayers.
Uzui Tengen, the Sound Pillar expressed a mixture of sadness and surprise.
And Shinazuga Sanemi, the Wind Pillar was surprisingly looking the most affected one, after Shinobu and Aoi. His face filled with anger, which was typical.. but also unexpectedly, grief.
The once cheerful and lively estate now seemed muted and quiet, its usual vibrant energy replaced by a sense of loss.
Amidst the tears and sorrow, Kanao remained stoic, her face betraying no emotions. She wanted to cry, to release the grief she felt, but no tears came. As the others openly expressed their emotions, Kanao struggled to find a way to process her own feelings. She had never cried even once. It wasn't because of cold nature but actually because of her childhood trauma. She had seen her siblings getting hit and sometimes getting hit at wrong place, losing their lives only because they had cried. No matter how hard she tried now, she still couldn't cry.
Giyuu couldn't help but walk towards Shinobu, who was wearing Kanae's Clothes, just like he had always worn the Pink Haori belonging to his late sister.
“... ” He didn't know what to say.
Soon, Sabito noticed them and made his way towards the duo.
“Hey there, Kocho.” he started the conversation, “It hasn't been long since we last met.. It's devastating what happened just after we left-”
“It's all because of that demon.. Not you.” she finally said after her long silence.
“... Demon?”
“The Upper Moon Two. Shinazugawa-San and Oyakata-Sama know it. They'll soon tell the others too, it's not something to hide, after all.” she said, sorrowfully.
“The Upper Moon... Two?!”
The Upper Moons were the six most powerful demons of the twelve demon moons. And Upper Moon Two meant the second most powerful demon, not including Kibutsuji Muzan. The Upper Moon Two was overall, the third most powerful demon in existence.
“So this is the power of the Upper Moons.. ” Giyuu wondered to himself after coming back from Kanae's funeral.
“And according to Oyakata-Sama and Urokodaki-San... Kibutsuji Muzan is many times more powerful.” said Sabito.
“We have to become stronger.. The Demon Slayer Corps have to become more stronger day by day if we wish to save humanity from the demons.”
“Yes.. We must. I don't know why but I'm getting the feeling that the Final Battle against the demons and the demon slayers is close.. We must become stronger to prevent any death caused by the demons in the near future.”
The Demon Slayer Corps however, had became weaker than before. But little did they know.. It was about to become the most strongest after the first batch of Demon Slayers which existed about centuries ago...
