I woke up with a loud gasp. My upper body swiftly springed up from the bed and my head kept turning left and right in panic. For a few seconds I could not remember where I was and how I got here. The dim moonlight seeping through the tall windows was not enough to light up the space. The whole room was almost completely dark.
I shut my eyes and rub the bridge of my nose trying to get rid of the pounding headache. My throat was sore, like I was screaming for hours...like I haven't drunk for days.
'There seems to be some fight in you after all. No matter. I shal rid you of it. Come closer, young creature.'
The flashes of red light kept flickering on my eyelids everytime I blinked. Two big bright eyes were staring at me from the light. The deep voice was ringing in my ears, refusing to go away.
'This cannot be happening. You will die!'
Random shivers ran through my whole body even if I was covered with a blanket. I was covered with a blanket?! Once more, I scanned the room. Small bed with metal frame. White bed sheets. Big divider with fluttering curtains was separating my bed from...was that another bed? The small table next to me was full of bandages, towels and some small vials with suspicious liquids of every color. On the other side of my bed is another table with some sweets and a big glass of water. I quickly grabbed it and chucked it down and immediately felt relief. It helped my sore throat and eased my headache a little.
I was in the hospital wing in Hogwarts. Ranrok is gone. Rookwood is gone. Harlow is gone. I was safe. The red light, the glowing eyes...all of that was just a memory, just a nightmare. I slowly layed back down on the bed and released a long breath.
But that also meant that Profesor Fig was gone! The only person who took me in when my parents died, who saved me from orphanage. He taught me my first spell. He taught me to control my emotions and therefore my magic. My sudden sob must summon Nurse Blainey.
"You're awake," she said quietly. "How are you feeling? Any pain?"
"I am alright, I think, just a massive headache."
"Good. Please drink this," she picked up one of the vials from my bedside table and put it in my hand, "it should ease the pain rather quickly. You are a little bit dehydrated, hence the headache. You were sleeping for quite some time. After you are done with your medicine please drink more water and try to rest, ok?" she put hand on my forehead checking my temperature probably.
"You just said that I was sleeping for a long time. I think I am quite rested already," I smiled softly at her and drank the potion quickly. It helped almost instantly. "How long was I out?"
"Few days," she gave me a vague answer and checked my pulse. It was clear that she did not want to stress me further. " You had some pretty bad burns. Luckily I was able to heal it quite quickly and the scar it left isn't that bad. You also have a large bruising on your left thigh so it might be difficult to walk for a few days. But fortunately no fracture or major injuries. The bruise will go away finally. We didn't want to overdose you with medicine and healing spells."
"So does it mean I can leave in the morning?" I asked hopefully and looked from the window. The moon was big and bright. It had to be the middle of the night.
"Will see. I will check with you again in the morning. If you will have any more pain, drink this bottle," she pointed at the smallest one. "And this one is the Potion for Dreamless Sleeps," she pointed at the purple one this time.
"Thank you," I smiled at her. She then nodded and left.
I almost immediately grabbed the purple potion and chucked it down. I didn't want to risk any nightmares. The drowsiness came rather quickly. I rolled to my side, trying to find a more comfortable position. Rather loud yawn left my mouth so I closed my eyes. I must fall asleep almost immediately. And indeed...no nightmares, as the potion promised.
When I woke up, the sun was shining bright through the hospital windows. Almost as bright as those smiles on all those faces next to me. All of my friends were here.
