A happy tune played through Rey's new room. It did not mirror her mood, and so she quickly silenced it. She was starting out at her new school in a week, so she was conditioning herself to waking up earlier than she had been to go for her runs. The clock on the hallway read 5 o'clock, which meant she would realistically have about an hour to run. Rey had also been finding different paths to run, and she thought she had found the one. It was relatively flat with some rolling hills along the way, a park to run through where the birds would bathe in the lake, and then it would loop right back around to her house.

Rey laced up her shoes tightly and opened her fitness app, starting her run. She hadn't run this particular way this early in the morning yet, so the sun was not up yet, the dim moon just barely illuminating her way, with the sun just about to start peaking up over the edge of the horizon.

Having only just started running, Rey was surprised to hear footfalls coming up behind her. Tilting her head to the side, she took a glance at whoever was behind her, finding out it was a teen boy about her age by the looks of it. He was jogging at the same pace as her, so he stayed just slightly behind her for a while. She grew sick of glancing behind her to see if he had turned down a different road, so she slowed down her pace a bit.

When Rey was running right next to the guy, she could see his complexion better. He was wearing a black singlet and black joggers, and had explosively out of control blonde hair. His deep red eyes snapped to her own steel coloured ones, and he spoke up.

"The fuck are you following me for?"

Rey was taken aback, and a scowl formed on her face. "Hey, you were following me?!" She exclaimed in confusion.

"I run this path every day at this exact time bitch, I was just doing what I always do!" He yelled back.

"We'll fuck you then," Rey sped up back to her distance she was away from him from before.

She just heard him grunt in annoyance, but as she kept on running her favourite path so far, he never strayed from following her. When Rey got back home, she curiously looked behind her to see where he would go, only to see him walk into the house right next to her's. Huh. Her parents weren't lying.

...

As the week went on, Rey was a bit shocked to find out the rude boy hadn't been lying when he said that he ran that way every day, as every day when she got up to run, he was there. Over the course of that week the two had went from running far away from each other to running next to each other, a silent agreement on the matter of the fact that it felt like whoever was behind was chasing the one in front, which was just awkward.

It was quiet except for the thuds of their feet and their breaths cutting through the crisp morning air, until Rey decided out of nowhere to ask, "Hey, what's your name by the way?"

He looked surprised by the question momentarily before his trademark glare appeared on his face, boring into her. "Fuck off," he simply stated.

"Okay 'fuck-off-kun', why do you run this way every day at the same time?" Sue her, she was curious.

"Fuck off, you're acting like fuckin' stalker Deku for fuck's sake!"

"Calm down man! Just wanna know the guy I've been running with for the past week," Rey shrugged. "But, I'll just shut up now I guess."

"Finally," fuck-off sighed.

The two continued in silence, parting ways when they both got to their respective houses. Rey looked up at the clock on the wall when she entered, and noted that it was six o'clock on the dot. That was another thing that surprised her about the blonde teen; ever since she had started running with him, she had never been back late once. Before she had started running with him, she would sometimes run a bit slower that day, and end up rushing through her she had to go through to get ready for the day. It mostly surprised her because he never seemed to wear any kind of watch or have his phone on him, so his time management was honestly impressive.

Once she had showered and gotten dressed, she made herself some simple eggs and rice, as her mum walked into the room.

"Good morning sweetie," she said quietly with a smile, moving straight towards the coffee machine.

"Morning mum," Rey quietly said back.

"Have you gotten your books for the new school yet?" Her mum asked.

"No, I was hoping to go out and get them today. That reminds me, could I please have some money for that?"

"Yeah, I'll transfer you some to your account. Would you like me to flick the kettle on?"

"Yes please," the two stood in relative silence from there on, the sizzling of the eggs and noise of the coffee machine enough noise for how early it was.

The two sat down at the dining table together, Rey's mum with her coffee and Rey with her eggs, heated up rice and green tea. As Rey ate, her mum piped up, "so, you excited for the new school?"

After she finished the bite in her mouth, Rey smiled as her eyes lit up and she spoke, "yes! I'm in the hero course, which is so exciting!"

Rey's mum placed her cup down and sighed. "I keep telling you sweetie, you need to be careful with having ambitions as big as your's. I just don't want you to get hurt, physically or emotionally."

"Yeah yeah, I know," Rey's mood has dimmed slightly, but she still stayed positive. She would become a hero, no matter what, her mum just couldn't see that yet.
