Chapter Two: I Saw Her

Becky POV

I'm having lunch with Kade. She picked me up from the office to have lunch with her. I know she's up to something the way she smiles at me but I'm not interested in anything right now. All I want is to eat and get back to the office to finish my work.

I have a ton of paperwork right now because of the new project that we need to settle. It's a big project that I need to personally manage. It's a big break for our company.

Kade turns her gaze at the restaurant door and waves her hand. I saw Noey and her girlfriend coming. Noey is one of our friends back in college. She works as a professor in the same university where we graduated. I saw them walking hand in hand with her girlfriend. it is the first time that I see her girlfriend in person.

"Hi Irinn, I thought Noey said you're busy?" Kade said when Noey and her girlfriend sat down. Kade knows Irinn because they spend more time together. Kade loves to go bar hopping as well as Noey and Irinn.

"Kind of, but it's okay. after all it's already lunch time." she said while smiling. "oh my gosh! are you ms. Rebecca Armstrong?" She looked so shocked when she stared at me.

I just nod at her.

"So, you are the CEO of RA company?" I don't know why she seems interested in me.

"Yes I am."

"You are the one who competes with my boss in Japan." she exclaimed. "Ms. Orntara Poolsak, the OPSC Builders Group CEO."

when she mentioned that company, I got irritated. I remember how the CEO belittled our creations. I can't forget that CEO. I will prove to her that she's wrong in saying that shit to our company. I don't know if she's holding a grudge over me or what. but she seems mad at me and I don't know why.

"You're working at OPSC ?" I ask her with a smirk

"Yes ! I've been working there for almost a year now." she said feeling proud. "and I'm the one in charge of working with the partnership of RA and OPSC. I will be the one to send every detail about the said partnership."

"That's good to hear." I said. "it would be great that I know someone in that company.

"it's also a pleasure to me Ms. Armstrong. I need to thank Ms. Nam for appointing me on handling this project." she giggled

"Call me Becky." I said.

Wait, Nam ? the name sounds familiar. I think I already heard that name before.

Irinn is about to say something but her phone rings so she immediately excuses herself and answers the call.

I got intrigued now. what does OPSC stand for ? I know that the owners name is Orntara Poolsak but what does SC stand for? is she married and SC stands for her husband's name?

"Hey Becky ! are you still with us ?" Noey snap out her hand through my face. "it's been a long time since you have lunch with us."

"Kade brought me here." I answered. I'm spacing out for sometimes that they need to snap to get my attention back.

if it's not with Kade, maybe I'm still at the office revising all the reports from the company for the past two years. It always happens that I forgot to eat lunch because of too much work.

"You know Becky , you need to unwind sometimes." Kade said while looking at me. "you should come with us tonight." she wink at Noey. "right Noey?"

"Yeah, you should come with us tonight" she said giving a high five to Kade. "free yourself from work just for tonight."

I know they're planning something. I just rolled my eyes at them and continued to eat.

I was about to call the waiter to order some food to take out for my brother when someone caught my attention.

She's smiling from ear to ear while talking to someone. She's carrying a small puppy with her. I observe them. They seem like lovers who go out for a lunch date. she even pulls a chair for the girl and sits in front of her. The smile on her face is evidence of how happy she is now. She pinches the girl's cheek and puts the puppy in the girl's lap before taking the menu that the waiter has been given.

She's been like this for me before. How I wish I can turn back the time when she's with me. My eyes become blurry reminiscing about the old days.

"Becky" I heard Kade calling my name "you've been spacing out-"

"I just need to go to the bathroom." I stand up and walk to the bathroom.

Why do I need to see her again? it's been three years since our marriage got annulled.

I don't know why I need to feel this way. I am the one who always told her that I'm not gonna love her even though she's the last person in this world. I am the one who always pushes her away. but why on earth I feel like this of what I saw.

flashback

"I'm never gonna love you even if you're the last person in this world." I told her while clenching my fist. "I just marry you because our company needs to."

we have a fight after she asks me why I can't spend even a little time with her.

she's about to cry but still manages to smile in front of me. "Don't worry, even if you didn't love me, I'm still here to support you in everything that you wanted to do."

my anger raised even more of what she said. is she that naive to tuck herself with me even though she knows that I can't return her love back.

"When our company starts to bloom again, I want you to know that I will take our marriage to be annulled." I informed her.

I saw so much pain in her eyes. I want to say sorry but I don't want her to misunderstand me.

this marriage happened because of our parents will. my father left me no choice and I hated him so much because of this. He used the company and the employees that were working there just to make me obey.

I put all the blame on her. that's why every time I see her I get mad right away. I can't love her because all I can feel for her is hatred.

"Why don't you love me back ?" she asked while sobbing. "You know what ? the day I marry you is the best day of my life. that was the happiest moment that I will treasure forever."

She closes her eyes and stays silent for a while.

"But if the time comes that your company goes back the way it used to be, I will be happy to let you go even if it will hurt me in the end."

End of flashback

I am the one who pushed her away. I hurt her so much. All I give her is pain.

Maybe it's true that you will only see the worth of someone when they are already gone.

I didn't go back to our table. I called Kade and told her that I need to go back to the office because I need to settle something.

I just cried the whole time I spent in my office. I cancelled all my appointments and told my secretary not to disturb me. all I want now is to be alone.
