Chapter Eight: Let Her Be

Freen POV

"You've got to admit, that was funny." Nam says as soon as we enter the condo, rolling my eyes but slowly curving my lips up into a smile. "you saw her reaction right ?" she adds before leaning his head back into laughter.

"What's so funny, you made her mad at me for God's sake Nam !" I said, raising an eyebrow.

"Babe, she won't get mad if she doesn't have feelings for you" she winks at me "you should thank me, I've helped you to make her jealous."

We were talking about the night of my parents' anniversary party, the night when Becky got mad at me.

Just like that, I grab onto the nearest object beside me which is one of my cushion pillows before throwing it directly towards her direction. "She's not jealous. She's mad !"

"I swear Freen, she's jealous. If you just know how she treated me the whole ride in her car that night."

"It's your fault Nam." I said annoyed.

She just laughed. I don't know exactly if she's helping me or what.

"I almost jumped in her car that night Freen just to clarify her feelings for you and now you are telling me it's my fault ?" she said pretending to sulk.

No One's POV

Flashback

the night Becky sent Nam home....

"So, how long are you and Freen together?" Becky asked Nam. She's using her calm voice but Nam can sense that she's totally furious.

she decided to play with Becky's feeling a bit "we've been together when we're in college but apparently, I go abroad so we parted ways." Nam answer.

Nam wanted to laugh at her acting skills. She will do this for her best friend. she wants to know if this girl really loves her best friend. she didn't want Freen to be hurt by this girl again.

"do you know that she's got married once ?"

"yeah! she already told me about that. but that was in the past. That was not an issue though. after all, they were already divorce three years ago I think." she's holding her laughter.

Becky glances at her and turns back her eyes in the road. she's in deep thoughts. She sighs.

"Do you know her ex-wife?" she then asks after a while.

if she admits that she knows Freen's ex-wife, then it's a big problem for Nam. she must stop that topic right there.

"we should not talk about this Ms. Armstrong. It's something personal for me." Nam says trying to avoid making more lies.

Nam saw Becky grip tight on the steering wheel.

"you should take care of Freen and love her more than anything in this world. she doesn't deserve to be hurt by anyone." she said with teary eyes.

that's it ! she will start to confess. Nam smiles secretly. but she felt guilty of what she did. Did she do too much ?

"Becky I-" she wants to say more but Becky cuts her words.

"If you hurt her, I swear to God, I don't know what I can do to you."

she sniff. She's crying now. Nam was sure of that.

"I don't want to see her hurt. if you truly love her, I won't go on your way. but if I see her crying because of you," she stops and gives Nam a death glare. "I will do everything to take her away from you."

Nam swallowed her own saliva. What has she done ? Freen must help her after this. This may be the end of her.

End of flashback

Becky POV

"Tell her I'm still in the meeting." I said to my secretary when she informed me that Freen is waiting for me outside. "and maybe I won't come back here in the office after that."

"b-but Ms. she's waiting for you for almost two hours."

I sigh deeply. "just do what I told you."

she nodded and walked out the door.

I was in deep thoughts when Kade entered my office. She's holding something in her right hand. a white envelope I think.

"I saw Freen at the parking lot" she said. "I thought you're not here because she's still holding a bouquet of tulips."

"Can I stay in your apartment tonight Kade ?" I ask her to try to avoid the conversation she wants to start.

Kade sighs. she knows that I didn't want to talk about Freen but she continues to bring it up. "Becky, why don't you try to talk to her. Don't assume something that you're not sure of."

"me and Freen had nothing to talk about, Kade. I know my place." I took out a file on my table and started to read it although I can't understand anything that is written on it. my mind is full of what if's right now.

what if I still pursue her. what if I fight Nam to win her. what if she still loves me ? and, what if Kade was right ?

"I hope you won't regret it Becky." she said while shaking his head. "try to talk to her to clear things out. that is the only thing I can advise you right now."

"everything is clear Kade. the thing Freen and Nam have. everything." I said while holding my tears.

"did Freen confirm that she and Nam are a thing?"

"I don't want to hear it from her. It would be more painful if it's coming from her directly. I believe in what I see, Kade. that can explain everything."

Kade stares at me. I don't know what she's thinking right now. I know she wants to say something but still remains silent.

I look at the envelope she's holding. when she sees me looking at it, she immediately takes it inside her bag.

I just ignore it. maybe it's something not related to our company.

"what if because of what you're doing, you are hurting Freen. what if you're making yourself and Freen suffer for nothing ?"

"you can say that because you're not in my shoes. You didn't witness how happy she is with Nam." I yelled annoyingly.

"Look Becky, I know Freen loves you and I'm one hundred percent sure of that. all you need to do is talk to her and clear everything."

I didn't say anything. I'm just looking at her.

I won't ruin what Freen has now. if she's happy with Nam, then I will be happy for her too.

I will be happy to see her happy even if it's not with me.
