soojin left that house without even realizing it, leaving the man probably in tears
but she didn't blame him, she was very close to having the same reaction
blue is my imaginary best friend
blue is shuhua
shuhua is.. dead
and?
soojin knew that a single important piece of the puzzle was missing and somehow knew where to find it
she tried to find the lucidity that had left her just before, took the flashlight that she had put in her pocket (even if she had seen that the driveway lights were on, you never know) and walked towards the woods
the ice house just looked like a simple well but soojin always imagined the cry coming from the little girl who fell into it
it felt so real to her every time, and even now she seemed to feel it
they say that when they found the body, her skin had turned blue
the memory made her shiver as soon as she arrived in front of the ice house and she instinctively retreated a few steps, remembering why she had gone there
where could shuhua be?
soojin's hand moved automatically and aimed the flashlight at the old tree
"shuhua? are you up there?" she asked carefully, getting no response
the old her would have let it go, but something inside of her told her to keep trying
"shu?"
the girl went under the old hazel tree and lit up the top of it
she saw a piece of paper comfortably placed on the branches
the wind didn't seem to bother it and she realized it wasn't there by accident
"shuhua?"
no answer again
she realized that the only way to get it was to climb that tree
she placed the torch on the ground so as to illuminate, even if only slightly, the whole tree
she tried to remember as best as possible the route shuhua had taken, placing her hands and feet on the few available points
she didn't look down, not even to check for suitable places to rest her feet
she miraculously managed to get to the top
the others will envy me after seeing this
she smiled slightly to herself as she sat up on a branch and then saw that the piece of paper was right next to her
she reached out slightly and her heart softened as she saw the subject
it was blue, the draw that had started their friendship
it was still perfect, it didn't even have a crease or a tear
"you did it on your ninth birthday, remember?"
shuhua's voice was so close that she almost could feel her breathing on her
she turned her head and saw her, there she was, sitting on a too thin branch, a branch that if a real person had climbed on it, it would have broken instantly
but shuhua seemed light as a feather, as if she was flying
she smiled at soojin, the blonde would never see something so beautiful again in her life
"shuhua, I think you need to give me an explanation"
"and I'll give it to you, soojin"
