"Say what??" Farukh wanted to make sure he heard him right, all perplexed.... "Biwi hain woh meri" Murtasim repeated, this time composing his tone as he let go of the man.... Farukh took a quick peek at the exit and instructed Murtasim "Tomorrow at the same time, be right here" and left the place....

***********************

He sat there stunned after listening to what the man sitting across from him was telling Farukh.... Murtasim gave a briefing of his past with Meerab, leaving the very last private moment untold ...."Hold on a second, so you're telling me that you love her?" Farukh expressed his doubt...

"Dude! Have you been listening to me? I have been looking for her every single moment of my life since the past 2 years like a pathetic maniac!" Murtasim explained, annoyed.

"Sir, I am trying my best to be on your side but you are not giving me much to work with in the first place" Farukh replied with more annoyance.

"What-the-hell?" Murtasim still failed to connect the dots.

"Have you been listening to yourself? You claim to love her and still NEVER trusted her when she said she considered Rohail as a friend ONLY!" Farukh clearly stated...

"The moron literally claimed his love for my wife right in front of me!!" Murtasim reminded...

"Who-gives-a-shit-about-that? It does not matter what Rohail thinks about Meerab just like it does not matter what your cousin thinks about you. You should have focused on what MEERAB thinks of him just like what YOU think of Haya". Farukh cleared out. "You went after Rohail to look for Meerab? Seriously man? You gave him a fist and threatened to kill him whenever you saw him around her and you expected Meerab to take it easy when it came to you and your cousin?" Farukh confronted.... "Why did you think she overreacted with Haya the last time before she left you? Did it ever occur to you that she might be in love with you and that was the reason she could not take that lightly?" Farukh thought it was an obvious catch... sitting here with a renowned personality and giving him a lecture on his own love life was not the kind of conversation he had ever expected...

Murtasim Khan sat there, consuming the common sense that he, as a feudal lord, had failed to construct himself... 'So it was not the heat of the moment for her, after all', he told himself.... 'She loved me' the thought itself escalated his fury to the highest level .... He was so overwhelmed with his own guilt of breaching the contract that he completely missed to acknowledge her love for him....

"..I understand Meerab made an abrupt decision and she messed up big time... it seemed like she was more likely punishing herself for the guilt of that night...the guilt of hurting and insulting you ... but the punishment cost her a lot ... including Meesam ...." Farukh included.... Meesam, he looked up to face him, the first time he heard of his daughter's name... it felt like someone had just grasped his heart and ripped it off his chest without sparing an ounce of mercy...

Farukh was looking at the mug as he talked about her "...MashAllah... She is the sweetest creature of Allah... my little Mumu" he chuckled.... He looked up to meet the eyes of the father of his little angel, "Talk to Meerab. None of them deserve this life, Sir. They deserve a complete family...WITH YOU!!" Farukh emphasized.... "Please, I am giving you the address. I won't be there because she will be nervous and tell some more lies and screw up everything again" he requested....

"Why didn't she come back to me, if she loved me?" Murtasim quietly questioned himself.... " Keep your selfish divine love aside and think harder " Farukh suggested....

Her own father failed to support her multiple times, initially with her career then in Maryam's case, then her adopted parents once closed the door on her face when she literally begged and broke down, she was harmed by his cousin who openly declared her love for him. Meerab warned him to stop talking to her so that Haya could divert her attention but it was him whose constant sympathy towards Haya raised her hopes. Meerab was right. He was giving her hope. That's why she said that Haya had the guts to come close to him because he gave her the indication. Did she think he loved Haya and his love making was out of anger due to his insult? Was she afraid to confess her love to him because she thought he would make fun of it? Was she afraid that he would refuse to acknowlegde the fruit of their love making? Of course! She was! That would have destroyed her pride and self-respect, which were the only two elements left to define her self-identity. Was she ashamed of making love to him thinking that she became so selfish for that single vulnerable moment by allowing her soul to be consumed by someone who was at the verge of taking revenge on her? Was she ashamed that she fell weak at the hands of her divine love for him and did not think twice before crushing her own pride and self-respect by herself? Was this the reason she did not want to face him? Oh God! She was a total mess!
