C h a p t e r F o u r

I was sitting on Nicole's couch for thirty minutes trying decide if I should open it or not. "Are you going to open it?" Nicole said looking at me intently. "I don't know, what could possibly be in there?" I said looking at her with no emotion. "Well you will only know if you open it." She said nudging it to me. "Here I'll take Em to the guest room." She said getting her from my arms. Nicole walked with Em towards the room at the end of the hall. She then walked back to the couch and sat next to me. I looked at her and then the envelope and decided it was time to open it. I took my finger and put it under a little opening to open the seal. Once it was open, I saw a trifold piece of paper with my grandmothers locket. I opened the paper and saw it was a note from her herself. I remembered her beautiful scripted handwriting, it looks like a front that was professionally made. She died before Em was born and I was so upset because she was a lady that put all others before herself. She took care of me when I needed something because my parents didn't. We would always go out for Sunday lunches and go to the mall afterwards for new clothes, but when she died I was heartbroken. I didn't eat for a week and stayed in my room. I'm still not over my Grandmothers death because she was a lady who believed in me. She believed that I could do something amazing with my life. I started reading the note and felt tears fall down my face.

To my dearest Ti,

I am writing you this letter because I know my time is limited. I want you to know that I will always love you and your unborn sister. I know you will take great care of her and yourself. I sorry that you had parents like yours but I know that your future will be so beautiful because your such an intelligent lady. I'm sorry I am not here with you right now but I'm always thinking about you. I wanted to give you this locket because it has been passed down my family for generations. If you open the locket you will see a picture of your grandfather and I. I put a picture of us in there to let you know that whenever your going through any struggle you can look at us and remember that we love you. I had my will made and was going to put your mom in there but I decided that it would be the wrong thing to do because she would spend the money on the wrong thing. In this envelope along with my letter and locket is a check that has the amount of eighty five million dollars. Since Em and yourself are my only grandchildren, I decided to leave all my wealth and personal belonging with you. Take this money as a treat to get out of her and away from your parents. I'm sorry your granddad and I couldn't be here long enough but I hope this helps. I see a bright future ahead of you, but all you have to do is picture it for yourself.

"Oh my gosh." I said full on bawling. I covered my hand over my face and tried to catch my breath. Since my grandmother gave me this money I fell like we finally have a chance at something. I can now give Em the life she deserves. She can get some clothes that fit her, have a proper bath and mostly a place to live. I know I have to do one thing, I have to get her away from here. "What, what is it." Nicole said grabbing the note that was now in my hand. I looked at her face as she read the note. Her face lit up with excitement as she finished the note. "Oh my, Ti this is you chance to leave and get away from here." She said smiling and hugging me. "I know, but I'm going to pay you and Logan first, for all you've done." I said smiling. "There is no need too." She said tearing up. "Yes there is, you both have helped me so much. So first thing in the morning I'm going to cash in this check an pay the both of you back." I said hugging her tightly. "Do you still have the bank account that I helped you set up?" She said looking at me intently. "It's in my back pocket." I said pull out the blue Chase card. "Well just use that, I don't want you to spend any of your money that you grandmother gave you. That's for you and Emmie, not Logan and I." She said. "Okay. As long as I can pay you both back." I said with a small smile. "I don't want your money though Ti, I just want you both to be safe." She said grabbing my hand. "I know and we will be. Thank you." I said smiling at her. "For what?" She said confused. "For being the mom I never had." I said smiling with tears in my eyes. "Your welcome love. I'm here whenever you need me." She said kissing my cheek. "I know. Goodnight Nicole. I love you." I said giving her one last hug before grabbing my things and going to the guest room. "I love you too." She said going to her room.
