"Lord Jesus, I hate this school." Jude said as she walked the parking lot with her mother, Beth. The brand new high school was standing tall and proud and free of construction.
"Hate is such a strong word" pipped up Emma, Jude's cousin who lived with her so she could go to that very high school.
"So is love, and that seems to get thrown around like nothing." Jude retorted bitterly as Beth reached for the door of the new highschool and opened it, shaking her head at her daughter.
They looked around as they entered the cafeteria, it was packed with parents and students who would be attending the school when autumn rolled around.
"Jude!" a high-pitched squeal rang through the crowd as Jude was hit by a small, dirty blond blur.
"Ack! Lucy, nice to see you too! But....I.need.air!" Jude laughed, her voice strained from Lucy was squeezing her so tightly.
"Release" a voice rang out, another short blond had Lucy by her neck with two fingers pinching it. Lucy cringed her head back.
"Okay, Okay, Okay! I'll let her go!" Lucy said, releasing Jude.
"Thank you Prue!" Jude thanked, gratefully, making mock breathing motions, as if she was held under water for a long period of time.
"You're such a drama queen" Prue laughed as Jude fell to the ground as if she passed out.
"Jude!" Lucy poked her motionless body, calling her name. When Jude didn't get up, Lucy started tickling Jude on her thighs.
"Ack, get off!" Jude squealed, crawling away.
"Hey, I have to introduce you to my cousin, he just moved to town and he doesn't like it. His mom needs him to stay and not fight her every step of the way, so I need you guys to become friends." Prue said in her thick Texas accent.
"We have to go see our English Honors teacher, Coach McRain." Lucy exclaimed, dragging Jude away down a hallway towards the library which was in the middle of two stairways; the left one led up to the English and Science classrooms, and the right stairway lead up to the Spanish and Math classes. They flew up the left stairway, laughing as they raced up the stairs.
When they reached the top, Jude spotted one of her best guy friends, Brandon. He made his way towards them, all 5'10 of himself. He flipped his brown hair out of his light blue eyes. Why do girls always like him? He's a total womanizer, Jude learned that the hard way, but thats not what this stories about.
"What's up?" he asked in one of his funny little voices he pops up with, hugging Lucy and then Jude, holding onto Lucy a little longer than Jude. Jude rolled her eyes when she saw those two together. 'On and off, on and off' she thought. Lucy and Brandon have a romantic history and every time Brandon hurts Lucy, Jude always has something to say about it.
"Checking Coach McRain's class." Jude replied, dragging Lucy along.
Brandon just stood there with his mouth agape, but Lucy and Jude just kept walking. Brandon smiled then moved, looking for his best friend Jayson, Prue's boyfriend. Brandon and Jayson are a packaged deal, it's not just Brandon or just Jayson. It's ALWAYS Brandon and Jayson.
Jude and Lucy finally walked into their English Classroom; a tall, kinda chunky in the stomach, Dark Skinned man stood greeting all the students and their parents.
"My sister Courtney use to terrorize this dude. As in she would change the screen saver to llamas everyday." Jude stated, walking away from the room.
"Why arent we saying hi?" Lucy asked, following.
"Because my mom's already in there, no use for us ALL to say hi" Jude replied, skipping down the hallway, no one in site to see her doing her girlish action.
Lucy followed, skipping fast to catch up with her best friend. When they got to the stairway they almost ran over a boy. The boy flinched, he threw his leg up close to his chest and covered his head with his arms.
"Don't kill me!" He yelled at them.
"I'm so sorry!" Jude replied, Lucy just turned around and walked back towards the English classroom and made a right turn, straight into the ladies restroom, Lucy's face was as red as a ripe tomato.
The boy relaxed and revealed his face. He wasn't what most would call hot, but he was....pretty cute in Jude's eyes. The more she stared at him, the more she saw. He had such soft brown hair, white skin that he hid underneath his white hoodie with different skull designs, and beautiful, piercing blue eyes. He was a few inches shorter than Jude, she smiled at him and turned around and walked towards the bathroom to find Lucy.
"So you almost run me over then not even give me a name?" the boy asked.
"We'll I don't want to exchange insurance information just in case you want to fake an injury and sue." Jude joked.
The boy chuckled, clearly he didnt get the joke, but he made an effort to look like he did. He extended his hand, "I'm Todd".
Jude took his hand and shook it, when she let go she winked at him, "Hi Todd," She then turned around and walked away to go find Lucy.
The boy just stood there and stared, after a while he smiled then walked down the stairs, forgetting why he even started to go up the stairs anyways.
