Long chapter alert ( ╹▽╹ )
It wasn't a staircase. It was a freaking spiral elevator.
"What's with your face? You really thought I would climb a thousand stairs?",scoffed Caleb as the elevator doors slid open, earning a surprised gasp from the group, except Sophia. She and the guide climbed in after helping Jade onto the platform, followed by the others.
The little girl's eyes widened in delight. She could see Caleb pressing a button, and from then on, it was all about new sensations. The tinkle of the vibrant lights, the feeling of weightlessness, her stomach gently lifting, it all made her marvel at what else she didn't know of.
She looked around for a brief moment, searching for the same excitement in her companions faces, and found it in Sierra's near her, amazement splattered all over it.
The attention of both of them went to the giant windows, offering glimpses of the world passing by beneath their feet, shrinking into a tiny little dollhouse.
Meanwhile, the others were relatively far in the back of the cabin, peering into the distance, except Estel, who kept his head down and held tightly to the ramp.
A sudden beep indicated that they had reached their destination. The doors opened again, allowing the group to step into a storey, feeling a little lightheaded. They took a long blank and much artificially lighted corridor, leading to another metallic door.
"Did you see? Did you see? It went clic then boooo then tit tit then woosh!",started Jade, her wheelchair vibrating from her little hops, making Mariya laugh.
"I did! And then we were turning and turning and we morphed into giants!",followed Sierra.
"Are we giants right now?!",screamed the little girl, giggling and hopping some more. The rest of the group chuckled, including Caleb, who entered a succession of passwords and codes on a small tablet, in order to access the following room.
"Have you ever been on one of those before?",asked Sierra, addressing her friends.
"Yes, plenty of times", said Sophia.
"Once or twice, but it was wooden and functioned manually. Nothing like this one", said Arthur, earning an agreeing nod from the rest of them.
"Technology's fascinating",marveled Peter.
It was quite funny from Sophia's perspective, watching them discover things that she thought mundane. She couldn't imagine their reactions if they talked to a robot or tested an AI like she used to do.
The door frame before them turned green, and the door knob clicked, clearing access to a ginormous, poorly lit area, probably the size of a football stadium.
Why is everything so out of size here?
A white desk and chair, along some shelves pinned to the wall, could be visible in the distance, but other than that, the room was completely empty.
"Lemme warn you, boss is eccentric",said Caleb. "A very, very weird guy. You know why this room is so big? It's because-"
He was cut off by the roar of an engine. A deep and loud sound, intensifying with the passing seconds, as if someone was driving a truck in the floor beneath. Bizarre enough, right?
How about if a part of the wall quite literally shifted, allowing entrance to a Harley Davidson motor bike, drifting across the room and stopping a metre away from the group?
Even weirder? Astonishing?
Because that was exactly what happened. And it wasn't even the best part yet.
