I woke up and a soft bright light was smiling at me. I looked at the clock. Shit! It was 8:30. I put on my dark washed jeans and my blue v-neck shirt. I throw on my heeled boots and my hoodie. It was quite cold outside. I went to Coffee Jacobs. The coffee shop was a small one beside the sea. It was decored with dark, wooden floors and soft lights on it. The refreshing scent of coffee woke me up. I saw Nathan on his gray hodie and dark wash jeans. His hair was very unruly. He smiled at me. He was holding this mug of coffee. White coffee. His all time favorite. I just sit there and flashed my fakiest smile.
"Oh Miranda don't pretend like nothing's wrong" he smiled.
"I'm not pretending" I smiled.
"You are. I know you"
"Fine. I'm not good okay? My eyes are still burning"
"You look... stressed"
"I am"
I looked around and there were happy couples. I just got a lump on my throat.
"Lots of stupid couples showing their affections here" I coughed.
"We better get out" he smiled.
"Thanks"
"Would you like some coffee or toast?"
"Coffee. Black one. The bitter one"
"Okay"
I headed out while he was getting me some coffee. It was Christmas Eve and I just feel super sick. I looked around the beach. It was like i'm looking at a heaven. I saw Nathan with my coffee and he handed it with me. We decided to sit down under the lifeguard's station.
"Pretty cozy" he smiled.
"Christmas Eve" I smiled.
"I won't forget when you messed up with me last Eve"
"Oh when I pelted your coffee with snow"
"Shittiest thing ever"
"I won't foget when we were in the woods"
"n our camping outfits though"
"We look retarded that time.. With my spice girls hair"
"Stupidity"
We just giggled. Remembering our past seems like a pain in my heart. It's just. I hate visiting it and I know he hates it too. We just stood there and watched the waves crashing by the huge rocks. I leaned my head on the wooden support of the lifeguard's station. I took a sip on my dark cofee. We decided to talk stuffs about Josh. I was sobbing but he kept on cracking some jokes. We just separated after our little talk.
I head back to the bakery and bought some cookies as my gifts. I bought one for my mom and dad then for my lovely neighbors. I don't have any relatives tho. My parents met in their orphanage house. They're both orphans. Nathan's house is just 5 blocks away from our house, which is also Josh's house. the intoxicating smell of cookies drove me crazy. I hailed a cab and went home.I wrapped my gifts and headed downstairs. My mom was cooking some Mac and Cheese. My dad was still asleep.
"Hi Miranda" my mom greeted me.
"Hi" I smiled.
"You look stressed"
"I broke up with a bastard mom"
"Josh?"
"Yes"
"Don't worry my child, good people live longer"
"Bastards die earlier"
"It's bad, my child. He's still a human being. Let's just pray for him"
My parents were strong devoters of God. We always pray and attend church stuffs. Good kid, eh? Not all the time. I'm just like everyone. I make mistakes.
It's Christmas time. I wore my dark dress and headed downstairs with my presents. My mom looked like me. We're twins, i think. She's wearing a blue dress. The Christmas lighst were winking back at me. The foods were served on the table. I kissed my mom and dad on their cheeks and gave them my presents. They gave me a new iPod Touch. I felt so happy. It's a dream come true for me. We finished eating and I decided to wash the dishes.
Ding.... Ding....
Doorbell. I opened the door. It was Nathan. He was wearing a dark blue button down shirt and jeans. He was wearing his favorite blue Converse shoes. He was smiling at me.
"Hey can I get in?" he winked.
"Sure" I smiled.
"What are you doing?"
"Washing the dishes"
"In that dress?"
"Yes?"
"Hey let's go to the woods"
"It's 2am idiot"
"So? We'll not get too far. My friends set a bonfire there"
"Okay, there's a party?"
"Yes. Come on!"
I smiled and finished washing the dishes. We headed to the woods We just walked for a few minutes and we spotted the bonfire. He gave me a bottle of beer and we sat on the huge rock beside the river. I spotted Josh and this blonde girl swimming.
"Are you fine?" he smiled.
"I don't care though" I took a gulp on my beer. Damn. A hardcore beer.
"Do you received any presents?"
"iPod Touch from my parents"
"Cool. I'll give you my present"
'"What is it?"
"Just promise me one thing"
He emptied the bottle of beer. I emptied mine too. He looked at me.
"Promise me you'll forget my bastard cousin, okay?" he smiled.
"Sure"
"Have you moved on?"
"Yes"
He was smiling at me and I felt his lips on mine. I was wide eyed and tehn Iclosed my eyes too. Everything was like in ecstasy. Fireworks are on my head. The trees were singing for me. There he was, kissing me. I curled my fingers on his locks and laughed.
"Best Christmas Gift Ever" I smiled.
"Playgirl" he laughed.
"I'm not"
"Is this what you want huh? Have you moved on to your feelings on me before?"
"I want you. I never moved on from it. It's always haunting me"
"Me too"
"Perfect"
"You're perfect, not your kiss"
"Both are perfect for me"
"let's just have a new start okay?"
"Okay"
We decided to go home and he kissed me before I headed back inside the house. Like the old movies...
