I came up with some concepts of how I would design WoF tribes, inspired by artists like Meroaw who have their own unique dragon designs.
So I drew everything but the body & legs, just on separate pages of my sketchbook. If I find the time to digitally draw fullbody designs for each of the tribes, I definitely will.
So here are some changes I made:
MudWings
- ram-like horns
- spike nubs on chin
- thicker, shorter tail with a set of spikes on the sides
- teeth that often stick out
- large, simple wings, rarely used for flying due to their weight
SkyWings
- long, thin ears
- visible scale clusters
- fewer, longer spikes along spine
- pointy shapes at the end of their tails (like old English-style dragons)
- skin flap connecting the thumb-claw to the rest of the wing
SandWings
- fluffy ears with tufts at the ends
- fluff(?) on their cheeks
- two chin spikes
- fluff on their chests, underbellies, & talons
- frill is made of fur
- short, blocky feathered wings
NightWings
- curved ears & horns
- always have two teardrop shapes; one markings of those born on one full moon turns silver, two markings turn silver for two full moons, & three full moons get extra silver body markings
- crescent-shaped wings
IceWings
- fluffy, short ears (to lower risk of frostbite)
- spikes on cheeks
- large chin spike
- two nose spikes
- scruff on chin
- antler-like horns
- sometimes grow manes around shoulders
- can have a range of fluff
RainWings
- ear tufts
- snake-like snout & nostrils
- fluff on chest & underbelly
- tufted tail-tip, like a monkey
- long, thin feathered wings with an extra long feather connected to the thumb-claw
SeaWings
- fins are more fish-like (soft & flowy)
- fin on chin
- longer chin dangly things
- ears tilt downward
- fin on the end of their tails
- thicker wing-skin, used more for swimming than flying
- angler-fish-like thingy connected to thumb-claw on wing
LeafWings
- small, edged chin spike
- leaf-patterned ears
- more ragged leaf-like tail-tips
- I just realized I didn't draw their wings?? Anyway they're pretty similar though
HiveWings
- edged chin spike
- long, sharp stinger on tail-tip
- no bones or scales on wings
SilkWings
- fluffy antennae (can also be like a moth's)
- two sets of fluffy ears
- fluffy chin, neck, underbelly, & tail
- very thin bones on wings with two antennae attached to each wing thumb-clawI'm also working on other headcanons for societal aspects, and I might eventually make some WoF AU stories :)
