Chapter 1
Magnolia
It was a cold and bitter Friday after school when I began to walk home back to the pack house. My snow boots crunch the snow underneath my feet as I walk. I pull my backpack straps a little tighter over my shoulders as the cold wind hits my face. The walk is not too far from the school, but oh Goddess, I can't wait to get my driver's license soon. Just two more weeks, and I'll turn 17. My parents told me that once my birthday hits this year, I can get it and my own car that I have been saving up for.
They strongly believe that my mate is not in my pack, but I think they are wrong. I know my mate is going to be Aiden, we've been together almost three years now. There is no way that we aren't mates, I know the moon Goddess picks who our mates are. Yes, I will be sad if it is not Aiden, I just don't want to feel like I have wasted these past three years if it's not him.
I am stuck in my own thoughts and realize I have made it to the pack house, in what seems to be record time. I see my younger sister Amelia in the window waiting for me, we always come to the pack house after school because our father is the Delta of the pack. My parents want what's best for me, and they do not believe that a normal wolf is okay for me, and by a normal wolf, they are talking about Aiden. His parents do not have high status in the pack, and honestly, being a Delta isn't a high standing either.
I push open the door to the pack house, and Amelia is standing right in the pathway. She is in the 5th grade so she is still pretty much a pup, but don't call her that or else she will through a tantrum, and I know I am not trying to deal with that.
"Hi, Amelia." I drop down so that I am at eye level with her. Amelia has large blue eyes, but that always depends on her mood. Her blonde hair curls and flows in waves down her back.
I always joke with my family because both my parents are blonde with blue eyes , and I have dark brown hair, almost black with caramel-colored eyes. When my wolf Rudina appears, she has very dark brown, almost black eyes, and her fur is pitch black with dark brown patches throughout.
"Magnolia, come look, Mom, and I baked cookies for the house while Dad has been working!" I let Amelia drag me through the whole house to the kitchen where I see my mother standing. She is scraping cookies on a baking sheet and placing them on a cooling rack.
My mother's name is Rose, which is where I got my middle name from. She has silky blonde hair that falls just below her chin and piercing blue eyes. Those eyes give me one look, and the truth just spills out of me like word vomit any time I am in major trouble.
"Hi, mom." I begin, but Amelia interrupts me talking a mile a minute.
"Maggie! We made chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, and rice crispy treats...." I drown out my sister's rambling and look to my mother for help to get her to stop talking. She smiles and turns her attention to Amelia, who again continues to list off the same 3 types of cookies they made repeatedly.
"Amelia, why don't you go get your things together? we will be leaving shortly." She gave her a small smile, Amelia nodded her head and darted out of the room.
"Where is Dad? Shouldn't he be done with his meeting by now?" I grab a random cookie from the cooling rack and begin to pick at it.
"Yes, he should." She said and continued to peel cookies off the sheet.
We could hear others beginning to fill the house. It is normal for this time of day. Everybody that lives in the pack house is coming home from other odd jobs, and kids are getting back from school. I look at my mother and see the sad look on her face. I place my cookie down and grab the spatula from her when I start to see tears falling down her face.

Hombres Lobo"Shh, Dad. Don't try to say anything." I grab his hand, which now mine was covered in both my mother's and his out blood. He pulled me closer so I was just inches away from his mouth and I could hear the faintest sound. "Run" I know he didn't speak...
